My bet is for Maile the next two years. If you look at his contributions per playing minute, he is probably best in the region this year.

Turning point for CCH when down 12 was the insertion of Brandon Brown. That is one tough hombre.

 

DJ is one of the best PGs I've seen in a while when it comes to the draw and dish in the lane. Its uncanny. However, when he lays down tonight and says his Thanks Yous, one thing he will say is "thank you, Lord, for me never having to go against Brandon Brown. That kid wears me out." I'll miss watching that battle next year.

Brown is one tough kid. Plays good defense...just solid.

As for the turning point you mentioned.

 

Holmes blew two fast break opportunities that could have blown the lead out to 16. CCH was able to creep back into it. However, they were the beneficiary of calls throughout the third quarter. 6 fouls to none, and CCH was pressing.

O'Hara is simply a terrible official. He is just too darn inconsistent. To make the block call on Jefferson in a tie game that late, that was let go most of the night was laughable.

 

Credit CCH Listerman got to work the officials during the injury timeout.

Plus they converted on the offensive end.

Great game! Good luck Holmes in the Sweet Sixteen. Colonels hold your heads up high. Two trips to Rupp in your four years is something to be proud of. Seniors Bo, BB, Billy and TJ, it will be strange watching CovCath next year without you guys on the floor. Thanks to both teams for four great games this season, all were outstanding match ups......

Old Guy, who was the deer in the headlights tonight? Who was shaking their head in disbelief? That was your reference to the Holmes kids after the district.

Simply, CCH lost their poise big time in OT. Two possession game and took terrible shots.

Congratulations to both teams for giving us an exciting game tonight.

Any one feel the officials tried to control the game too much at some times and not enough at others? I guess it was be called inconsistent.

In closing...you have to tip your hat to CCH. Gritty and gutty team. They play well together and never say die. Some would have folded their tents after the Holmes run, but the battoned down the hatches and roared back.

Very talented bunch that left their mark in CCH hoops history.

There still is talent returning and they will be heard from again.

Correct. In addition, they could have had an easy bucket at the end of regulation but they tried to dunk instead of just laying it in. Fortunately, it did not cost them the game.

Good call. It was more grit and effort than execution and talent that got them back in it.

Easy now. I'd argue that at least one of the cheers by the Crazies was inappropriate and disparaging. Lets just call it even and let it go.

I really didn't care who won, as I am from Florida, but I am making my first trip ever to the sweet sixteen, and was very badly wanting to see the CC student section in action:cry: . Oh well you can't have everything. Good luck to Holmes in Lexington.

It was hot in there...did it sell out?

 

Cov Cath's wheels fell off when Jacobs fouled out.

They had no rythum offensively and took some highly questionable shots with the game still within reach.

However, they showed some grit by battling back from a 12 point deficit.

I thought that Henderson's defense on Jacobs was exceptionable. He never let him get on track. Jefferson did an outstanding job on Bovard as well. Bovard failed either to get them into the set on the last possession, or just tried to take it all on by himself, and had to settle for a bad shot for the win.

 

I was surprised to see CovCath not play zone. Holmes was consistently getting close in shots but just missing them. Other than Henderson, no one else was close to making a perimeter shot.

 

Greg Rice was really good despite missing a point blank layup late, which look to be an aborted dunk attempt. He redeemed himself with a pair of FT's to tie it.

 

I think overall Holmes's defense was the key to the game. No one other than Bovard and Jacobs could dribble drive without getting stripped or throwing one away.

 

Henderson was really good and deserving of the MVP of the tourney.

 

Cov Cath abandoned any thought of an inside game for whatever reason.

Great way to close 9th Region action this year.
