The numbers that were used in the most recent football realignment was Mason County-798 and Elizabethtown-716. Both will be AAA. By the way, Lexington Catholic (2002) is listed at 862 and Warren Central (2004) is listed at 1132.5. As I understand it, these are two year averages.

I would support the idea of a class system in basketball. It's easy to manufacture arguments to support the system as it is now, saying such things as " my cousin in Ohio says everyone is unhappy with the class system" or "the kids don't want basketball to be devided by classes" or "it's ruined the sport in every other state" etc. You know the old truism, "95% of all statistics are made up on the spot" probably applies to such arguments! I'd like to see a true survey of highschool ball players, fans, and officials addressing this issue.

No matter what trait you look at I'd think you'll find that generally only a certain percentage of the population would possess that trait ( or would possess it to varying degrees). The larger a population is the higher the absolute number of people possessing a trait or traits. It is going to be easier to find 10 good athletes from a population of 500 than a population of 100 (another one of those stats!) A small school will rarely have the ability to compete with larger schools.

They need to have Classes or Divisions like they do across the river i think this will make for the best competition of all schools big or small then take all the winners of the state in each Division and let them play to see who is the true State Champion..JMO

What about a major change and eliminate the Regional tournaments and play a state tourney with the 64 district winners seeded? Still have a final 16, but one would have to argue that it would be a stronger field than today's.

 

How fair is it to come out of a killer region and have a top 5 team with little hope of seeing the sweet 16 ever?

 

I don't think we should be afraid to change....just cautious.

Two classes is all that we would ever need in Kentucky ... the same is true for most states. Indiana would have been better off going to two classes instead of four.

If anyone watched the ST.Pat(NJ) and Huntington(WV) game on ESPN then waht did youg think about New Jersey's system?6 divisions,6 state champions then a tournament of champions between the 6 divison state champions.

Indiana tried it the first two years after they went to four classes, calling it the "Tournament of Champions" ... attendance was miserable, and the idea was scrapped.

It's an anti-climactic way to end a season. The final four, or whatever, should be based on skill, not enrollment.

I agree, you can't participate as a whole but if you when your classification you can try to claim the overall prize??? I don't think so.

The All A Classic is NOT a state title. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder but the All A is just another tournament that happens to mimic the Sweet 16. Also, as long as everyone keeps beating the All A Classic is a State Title Drum the less of a chance there is of the KHSAA ever classifying basketball. In other words, the All A Classic is a dream come true for the KHSAA.

 

Lol.Not a state title? So when Ncc wins single A in football their state champs, but say when Brossart wins the All A Classic in basketball they are not state champs? It's set up the same way as the Class system for football and involes a majority of 2A. CONGRATS BISHOP BROSSART ALL A STATE CHAMPS!!!!:thumb:
