February 27, 200719 yr Jesus wasn't sacrificed for our sins yet... What is your understanding of salvation in the Old Testament times?

February 27, 200719 yr What is your understanding of salvation in the Old Testament times? Maybe that should be in its own thread. :thumb:
February 27, 200719 yr ADAD, yeah he could have ate too much and got sick but over eating that one meal wouldn't cause the attack. Now lets say it did would the driver go to prison for many years and live with the guilt? I was going out to eat later now I'm worried. You can drink just don't over do it. At my job we get tested for things a lot and I've seen people lose their jobs. They sinned.
February 27, 200719 yr By following the Law, the whole Law and nothing but the Law. 5wide, this pretty much sums it up for me. Try not to sin, and if you do, just pray God has mercy because there is no other way.
February 27, 200719 yr ^Not sure I would completely agree with that...or maybe I'd just state it differently. We might have pretty similar views, only choose to word things different. In any case, it's a topic for a different thread, as Watusi said.
February 28, 200719 yr Thankfully, He doesn't do that when we mess up, otherwise none of us would be here right now. True, but the "sauce" is not an issue.
February 28, 200719 yr True, but the "sauce" is not an issue. Sometimes it is and sometimes it is not the issue. Only you can speak to if it is (or has been) and issue for you.
March 4, 200719 yr I think drinkin is fine to a point. The point is whenever you cannot control yourself and people have to worry about you. Its just all a mess when someone gets that way. I mean if you want to drink to loosen up a bit and have some fun I believe that is ok. When people start vomiting and using the bathroom on theirself and not being who they really are anymore. Thats when it is a sin, I believe.
March 4, 200719 yr Drinking is not a sin If done in moderation . If the person drinks only to get drunk then that is a sin . And if its Woodford Reserve spilling it is a sin
March 11, 200719 yr I use to drink heavily until I got saved and became a "tee-totaler". I started drinking in middle school, when I would raid my parents liquor cabinet without their knowing it. They always told me it was bad to drink, but I saw them doing it and thought it was O.K. They never knew I drank until I was a Senior in High school. I started because it was made avaiable to me. I can honestly say I have never seen anything good come out of alcohol consumption, even in moderation. I know there are some few adults who can take a social drink and quit and handle it quite nicely. However, there are way too many who cannot handle it and become alcoholics and drinking becomes a problem. It is a known fact that alcohol leads to gambling, auto accidents, illicit sex, and all kinds of other sins. I believe the Bible teaches against drinking, even though taking a drink or two will not condemn anyone to hell. Drinking damages the witness and testimony of a Christian. They are better off to completely abstain.

They are better off to completely abstain. To piggyback off of this, you can socially drink 99 times out of 100 and it is no issue. But that 1 time is all it takes to change your lives, other lives, and unfortunately end lives. It is not worth the risk. I feel safe to say that no one ever went out drinking planning on drinking and driving and ending up in a wreck. The last paragraph, absolutely 100% agree with.
March 11, 200719 yr Wolf, nice post. I've already said this...my sons will never see their Dad take one drink.
