If BG has any D1 players, it has to be based on size, not athletic ability. The championship game showed that clearly.

 

 

As a team it was easly to see CCH was the better team, however it does not mean the kids picked from BG are not D1 athletic ability.:walk:

Maybe BG was heavy on star power and short on supporting players. The amount of high quality players is what set CC apart. There can be great players on teams that aren't so great.

If you have 5-6 D-1 players on any HS team, you should win a State Championship in that year. I don't care if they are all kickers!

thats how Joseph Castaneda found out that he was on the team. One of his Colonel teammates saw it on BGP and told him this morning at school.

 

I talked toJoe yesterday morning at 10:00am and asked him if he had heard anything, he said no. This afternoon at 12:30, I asked him when he found out, he said when someone told him this morning.

I also want to see the stats comparing the kickers. If the BG kid has better stats than the CCH kid, then the right kid was placed on this team. If not, then the selection was "slanted" and that doesn't say much for those doing the team selection.

I think around $15....not too many folks show...I will hope to be there.

2nd Don't get caught up in the talks dealing with who should and should not have made this team.You made it and that is the bottom line.

 

3rd PLease win after watching the more talented team get whacked last year I hope each of the players and coaches understand that you all have to want it more then the team from down south does and each practice you have to act like it.

I am thinking more like $8 to $10. Most years there are not big crowds but it is normally a very entertaining game and if you are a Kentucky high school football fan it is a great, well run event and worth every penny of the price of admission.

 

Hat Trick, I am glad Joe made the team. He is a stud and one of the best kept secrets in KY.

Who sponsors this game? Who selects the players and what criteria is used? I'd be surprised if 6 players from Bowling Green were on the team and none from Covington Catholic considering what everyone saw in the Championship game.

If 6 players from one team made the all-star team, that would be the greatest team in the history of KY. :eek:

Brad Durham from Rockcastle Co and Hibbard from South Laurel are on the team. Both will be OL. Prestonsburg has a player on the team, probably a DL. That is it as far as I know.

I only see they have 3-4 LB's and a couple are combo RB/LB's. Sam Flynn is a straight LB who had a TON of tackles, was a 4 yr starter and played on a State Championship team. Its a shame he didnt make the list but good luck to all the players.

 

I agree. I am not sure if some of the other kids can play LB or not but I do know that Flynn and Gamsky (South Oldham) were some of the best LB's in the state last year. Where is Flynn going to school?

Not long. Hard to believe he's not one of the top 2 kickers. If he's not, then the other 2 are top-notch. If they've had a better kicking season than Shane (3 or 4 50+ yarders) then they deserve it. If they haven't........

 

Who is the head coach?

Looks like Tinius' coach is one of the coaches and Bowling Green has how many players? Popham was by far the best kicker in the state this year and deserves to be on this team. Tinius gets this nod because he has kicked for several years...and Popham had to wait until this year behind two other D-1 kickers the past two years. Should have been based on this season. Popham's 18-27 FG season is the all-time record! Tinius is a good kicker, but will be staying home for WKU and Popham will be at Wake Forest.
