For the Tigers sake, I hope the new wrinkles can get them past BG. After this week, St. X gets a win vs a down Male squad, then 4 straight with Elder, Trinity, Boyle County and Manual…. a stretch that could be disastrous for the guys on Poplar Level Road.

I do have to give them credit for the uptick in their Schedule. If memory serves it was not too long ago that Fairdale (no disrespect), et al, were on the tilt.

Seems a bit early to quit due to offensive performance in Game 1. How many good teams in the history of football have had a less than stellar Game 1 offensive performance? Answer: Many. How about stay

X can’t expect the defense to keep them in games with an offense playing like it has been. The offense has to have sustained drives and not turn the ball over for immediate scores. The defense can’t do

Last time played Fairdale was 2017. Since then they played DeSales and Henry Clay but have played Owensboro the last 4 years counting this season as latest.

St. X 17-14.

Sorry I was a bit off in the recency. I was trying to be complimentary.

Don't turn the ball over, improve on pre snap penalties, win special teams and X should find a way to win a close one.

X - 17

BG - 7

Even in the best years of Purples football the Tigers would give them all they wanted. I believe both programs aren't where they want to be at the moment.

How good is Bullitt East? I'm not really sure but outside of a redzone blunder BG moved the ball down the field, have some quick backs and some talented WR's as well. The concern coming into the season was whether or not the Purples OL could give the SO Quarterback a clean pocket, there was a lot of scrambling around and taking unnecessary punishment last Saturday. Nonetheless, Davis is a good QB and has the capability to do so, against a strong X defensive front in not sure how many plays will be made. Could be an old fashioned rock fight up in Louisville Friday evening but X should iron out some things offensively and get their first win of the season at home in this one.

Tigers 28-10

Courier-Journal picks. Although John Spears is St. X radio guy so take that one with grain of salt.

I was told a starting WR and DB both quit this past week for St. X?

Would be huge if true. @Tigerpride94 any info?

I have to admit, I'm pretty surprised by the BGP poll here. It's been roughly 60-40 BG throughout. That's with the following going on:

  • First home game for new head Coach Brian Landis.

  • First home game on new turf field and video board.

  • It's Alumni Night.

  • It's Future Tiger Night.

  • I'm sure X will play better than at Owensboro. Heck Rash Stadium alone is worth 7 points (I believe that).

That's alot for a young BG squad to overcome on their first real road game of this very early season.

@TheBallCoach mentioned a key area for BG in the Oline and Davis did take some hits, but IMO at least 50% of those hits were his fault not the Olines. Can't run to the middle of the field when you are a slender Sophomore QB. He will learn.

X has good lines on both sides of the ball. IMO they went away from that too early in the Owensboro game. I don't expect that in this game. It's been said that X needs to find better execution over significant changes. I agree with that, but also wondering if some changes will be made. Probably a few.

BG will probably be pretty antsy early and will need to calm down and get to business early. Can't afford to fall behind early to this strong X defense. BG played at least 10 sophomores in the Bullitt East game. Hoping that plays an advantage of not putting alot of pressure on themselves and just come out and play ball. We shall see.

As @bruin66 said turnovers and penalties will carry a heavy weight in games like these and I think that is likely the overall determining factor here.

I'm not trading teams.

I talked to people that would know and it's false info.

It's true as to the receiver and 2-3 additional players. No details on the exact why but it's a loss to the team.
