I feel your pain. We also play CAL in the BG pain funnel schedule.

Ouch! CAL is right there with Trinity being next level.

X can’t expect the defense to keep them in games with an offense playing like it has been. The offense has to have sustained drives and not turn the ball over for immediate scores. The defense can’t do

Dang! Louisville put a whooping on western Kentucky tonight!!

Bowling Green has the same issues as last year. Can't stop the run at all. Offense is a bunch of 15-16 year old kids trying to outplay grown men with suspect play calling. A very average X team just took them to the woodshed. The worst part is how it seemed like not a soul showed up to play. That's coaching and leadership. We blinked and X was up 25-0.

The Purples aren't serious this season, again.

I don't think the St. X defense is average.

Sure. But as said in my post, this is an average X team comparative to the decade+ of playing they've done with the Purples. If this was just about a defensive outing that would be one thing. BGHS couldn't stop anything X called. Rarely got off the field.

BG dropped two wide-open TDs on two different drives. The play calling gave BG the chance to hang 21 on an excellent X defense. I can't call that "suspect".

Also worth noting, X scored 21 points on:
- A blocked punt (credit X special teams for this)
- A fumble immediately following a dropped sure TD
- A 4th-down run where the runner was stopped, the whistles were blown, and then, all of a sudden, the runner spun out of the pile, and the ref panicked and signaled a TD

I was just one of those nights. I think this BG team is better, and I also think they're going to be VERY good in the future.

Agree to disagree.

Both instances you speak of the game already felt too far gone IMO. Maybe the first could be accounted for. However, the second "drop' was when it was 32-10 in the fourth. Again, the game felt essentially over mid way through the second quarter when they went up 25-0.

Offensively I'm sure they'll regroup and be better but the other side of the ball, particularly stopping the run, is going to be a challenge. The next two weeks are set up to be pretty brutal if that is what we can expect.

The failure to blow the 4th down touchdown dead was a really bad call. If you watch the WLKY coverage there was also a block in the back right at the point of a possible tackle on another X score. Watch number 11. The dropped touchdowns were just mistakes that prevented Bowling Green from exploiting X's problem covering deep routes. X's D line getting to the quarterback hides a lot of sin with the coverage. The deep coverage has to get fixed.

It was a good win to get but I am concerned X is giving themselves too much credit for beating a team that isn't very good at this point in the season.

The X team that played last night is beating the Owensboro team they played in week 1. As someone that watched the entirety of both games it X was a completely different version of themselves. In this game X executed at a high level, had a few calls go their way, and their defense is good. They only gave up 10 to OHS, which is the same amount of points they gave up in this one. BG is young and is well coached, despite what you may believe. This is the same staff minus a coach or two that took them to 4 state titles in the span of 6 seasons winning 3 of those. BG may not win it all this year, but they will likely be a team no one wants to see come playoff time.
