Reds hold the Brewers scoreless in the top of the 8th after a two out double.

Reds mounting a comeback after a double by Arroyo single and moved to 2nd on an error a Elly walk had runners at 1st and 2nd and no outs. Then a weak ground out by Myers mover the runners up and Arroyo scored on FC by Stewart. Next with two outs Steer hits a huge 2-run shot to right center to now make it 6-5 Brewers after 8 innings.

Of course we get it down to 1-run and what does Burke do to start the top of the 9th walk the leadoff hitter. At least he got threw out trying to steal.

Burke goes on after the caught stealing to get the Brewers in order. The Reds head to the bottom of the 9th needing 1 to tie and 2 to get a much needed win.

All right we get a leadoff single by Trevino to get the tying run on to begin the 9th and Bleday gets a walk so the Reds now have runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs and Arroyo at the plate.

Arroyo with a terrible attempt as a sac bunt as he bunts it straight to the pitcher who gets the lead runner at 3rd, so the Reds now have runners still on 1st and 2nd with 1 out and Elly at the plate. Elly goes down 0-2 in the count and fights back for a walk. The Reds now have the bases loaded with just 1 out and Dane Myers at the plate.

Myers grounds into a game ending double play with the bases loaded and the Reds fall 6-5 and are swept in the home series for the 1st time in 44 series at GABP. The Brewers continue their dominance over the Reds. The Reds had 11 hits tonight but left 16 runners on base and were 3-17 with runners in scoring position.

Horrible finish, Brewers 6-5.

I really had a feeling the Reds were going to come back and win this game. I guess it was just indigestion. lol

Next up the Reds go back out on the road for an important 7 game road trip to close out the month of June and into July with 3 at Pittsburgh and 4 at the Brewers starting on Friday.

Went to the game last night (a 2-0 Milwaukee win.). It was 3-2-1 night.  I don't drink much at all, so I don't get much out of these nights, but there were A LOT of college kids there.

So sitting behind my buddies and me was a group of college girls.  Most of them Indian, but a couple of Japanese girls as well.   One of the Japanese girls was the only one among the group that understood baseball.   Listening to her explain the game to her friends was more than worth the price of admission.

That’s hilarious. I was also there on the 3rd base line, I was sort of lucky, had a family with their golden retriever named “Elly” wonder why that was. Reds are awful this season I just don’t get it. Great photo.

Having said that, it’s certainly not been a great week for Terry Francona.

Tuesday night: He allowed Jose Trevino to leadoff the bottom of the 9th, down two runs, with his entire bench available.

Wednesday night: Trailing 3-1, he allowed lefty Sam Moll to face pinch-hitter Andrew Vaughn with the bases loaded in the 7th. Vaughn a .455 hitters vs LHP, ripped a game-deciding double to clear the bases.

He also inserted Dane Myers into the No. 3 spot of the order and watched him get six plate appearances. Myers grounded into a game-ending double play in the bottom of the 9th. Leaving Sal Stewart on deck, and Spencer Steer in the hole.

It might just be the roughest 24 hours by a Reds manager since the profanity laced meltdown of Bryan Price in 2015.

With this front office and ownership, the Reds were always going to need the 67-year old Hall of Fame to-be manager to be on his game. That game appears off.

The inordinate number of texts and questions I’ve been getting from baseball people certainly backs that concern.

He feels like a veteran pitcher whose fastball used to hit 98-99 mph, but is now trying to figure out how to get outs at 93-94 mph.

Too often, he’s been too loyal to non-performing players. Too often he’s appeared slow to react. Too often, he’s appeared flummoxed by basic questions from the media.

He dropped to 120-121 as Reds manager after last night.

As one former member of the organization told me this morning: “He should have stayed retired.”

Reds up 4-1 over the Pirates after 3.  Skenes pitching for the Pirates. Abbott for the Reds.

4-2 Reds after 5.

4-4 after 6 innings, Abbott gives up two solo homers.
