February 12, 200719 yr Everyone sees how players play in OTHER systems. Don't forget, were Tubby to be coaching them instead, there is NO guarantee that they'd be playing at the same level as they are in other programs. Excellent point! Prince, Rondo etc. Lofton was the biggest miss since Tubby has been here IMO. That one was a no brainer and he was dying to come here. Sad thing is that he probably wouldn't be the star he is today.
February 12, 200719 yr Really no use for this question/ thread imo. "If" this one and "If" that one, where does that get anyone? They are not at U.K. and "If" a frog had wings then..............................
February 12, 200719 yr And to answer the question in this threads title, I don't think that UK would be any better if they had Lofton or Brewer. Guards have not been our problem, it's the lack of any depth beyond Morris in the post that has cost us the most games. Thats really hard for me to buy. UK is missing a consistent 3 point shooter.(Lofton) And Brewer and Bradley may have the same stats, but Brewer is a lock down defender. To answer the question, its a no brainer IMO, yes UK would be better. But you cant blame Tubby. Everyone (including myself) questioned if Lofton could get his shot of in the SEC.
February 12, 200719 yr No doubt that they would have helped now, but they might not have turned out like they have if they were at UK
February 12, 200719 yr Author Why waste scholarships on guys like Thomas and Orbzut?? Maybve gently show them the door and open schollies for guys like Lofton and Brewer. Happens all the time. UK staff poor evaluators of talent and lack strong work ethic. Just look at players Florida has compared to UK.

Yeah good move, make the weakest part of the team which is the post players even weaker by having them only have 3 post players left on the team in Morris, Stevenson, and Perry (and Perry really isn't a post player so we would really be down to two...) Have you read the post in this thread that you posted. We brought in 3 5 star players, and another player who was also rated above Lofton in Bradley. If we tell those players no never mind we dont want you, we want to go after guys not ranked as high, then people like you and others would be all over Tubby saying he is an idiot passing up on 5 star player for guys that no one is sure how their games would be on the next level...
February 12, 200719 yr If the two were to go to UK and play at the level they are right now, they would be well improved, they would have a couple of go to scorers and the best defender in the nation. I do agree with Tubby though recruiting the class he did in '04
February 12, 200719 yr I still think not giving me a scholarship was a big mistake as well. I hardly ever here people talking about what if SF41 was a wildcat. How much more of a joke might the team be then... I cheer for the team that wears the blue and white, and just don't worry about the guys that don't..
February 12, 200719 yr What he thought he would get was two guys who would not be able to play for Kentucky. What he would have got was some consistency at the guard spot, something we don't have.

Rivals had you as 1/4 star, said you had a million dollar body and 8 cent knees.:thumb:

Guards have not been our problem, it's the lack of any depth beyond Morris in the post that has cost us the most games. That is the way it ALWAYS is with Tubby teams. He can recruit guards well. He just can't get enough big men or the right ones. Too many "tall Trees" that do not develop, gain strength, handle the ball, etc. You can't pass up MC'D's.....at all!!! Those decisions have proven to be good ones. Crawford has REALLY developed a good game and has been playing GREAT. However...I have to say, like several of you, I saw Lofton play many games and totally KNEW he would be very good.
February 12, 200719 yr OK the first 3 are fine. But was Bradley better ranked or had better stats than Loften or Brewer? Rivals had Brewer at #31, Bradley at #91, and Lofton at #146. They also don't have UK even on Brewer's list of schools. Where did "he wanted to don the blue" come from? Not saying he didn't have interrest, just curious where this came from.

Sad thing is that he probably wouldn't be the star he is today. Not unless he had learned to play defense. 3 years later and I still don't see Lofton playing defense. And on Saturday, we saw how defense can keep you in games. Last year, we saw how good defense can shut Lofton down in the game at Rupp.

February 12, 200719 yr It was said numerous times on Sat's broadcast of the game. I believe the whole Brewer not coming to UK talk was a little overdramatized (same with Lofton as it always is). It cracks me up how the longer things go on and the more success these kids have, Tubby at some point came out and said "this kid cannot play in the SEC because he is too skinny or too slow." Tubby may suck at recruiting and it is open for debate, but I have a hard time believing Coach Smith or any other coach in America would come out and say something to that effect. That would be suicide.
