......and you should have never been forced out.

I was not forced out. I weighed it out over a 4 month period and based on the information I had, I thought it was best for the program.

But, in posting this…. I know you do that in support of me. And, that is appreciated.

Who knows… Coaching & Leaving Mercer County… might be a great book # 2 someday.  ??

Steve, Kasey, Austin… all super choices.  And, whoever they choose, wish him and the kids the very best.

Seems as if there are a lot of people creating false rumors about this job and who is interested.

If he can coach like his brother it wouldn’t be a bad move.

I would think Coach Booher being a former State Champion coach would cast a wide net.  Whoever it is, has to keep their kids from other schools.  Coach Adkins had a good run, but was really hampered by that and some injuries this season.

He would probably be more suited for a job like GC if it came open.

Football and basketball have dropped dramatically since Booher arrived.  When Booher got there football came off a 9-3 season with over 70 players on the roster and had beat CAL twice in 3 years. Coaching change happens and Mercer football went 1-10 with under 30 players on the roster this year.  This was the direct result of a bad hire from Superintendent and AD and they don't seem interested in fixing it.  Basketball in the last 10 years have had a Mr. Basketball and multiple trips to the region championship.  This year they were 8-22.  I have never seen the amount of kids leaving Mercer as I have seen recently.  There is a bad culture within the Athletic Department and school system. Mercer may have the newest gym in the 12th region and one of the nicest indoor facilities for football and weight lifting but there is a reason for the recent drop off and kids leaving.  Until they fix that it could be hard to get good coaches hired in there.

For sure, I would tend to think (being on the outside looking in) football has had a direct impact on basketball.  Which, I know Coach Adkins short bench last season may have contributed to some defects as well.

I know he gets brought up every year when a job comes open, but I’ll bring him up again. Would Ryan Young have interest here? I haven’t looked up the numbers but I would guess Mercer pays more than Somerset. Also, not sure if he ever moved to Somerset so maybe Mercer would be a closer drive and easier on family. He graduates 3 starters. This is just pure speculation as what these boards are for. Thoughts?

I think it’s a very intriguing question. He could be the coach to turn Mercer into a true “blue blood” of the 12th. If he has moved to Somerset I’d say he would be content in staying there.

I've heard Jason Mays name mentioned for this one.  ?

Well, he's a winner!

Mercer Co. pay is one of the best, if not the best in the region.

Someone told me recently Mr. Mays will be back at the helm in Mt. Sterling this fall. Superintendent is leaving and Mays will return.

Yes, if he can keep his nose clean he absolutely is a winner.

Can he win with a clean nose?!
