Miami Redhawks Undefeated Season

Featured Replies

It's a fun story, but they are still likely going to have to win their conference tournament to get in.

They've played one game against Q1 and Q2 combined. Three of their wins are against Non-D1 competition. 48th in the NET, 84th in KenPom, 84th SOS.

Miami is a great story this year but I have seen enough to know the Redhawks are no where near the level of the top college basketball teams.  I do hope they get in but I am not optimistic other than maybe one win.

I'm not even sure they win one, but the do deserve to be in.  How many big time schools over the years go down in round one?

I am not sure either but I am here for it and I like the "upsets" in the postseason.

With where their NET ranking is. If they only lose one game, they will be in. Honestly I think they would slip in even if they lose 2.

This reminds me of when Murray State started the season 23-0 in 2012. They rose as high as #7 (if I remember) in the rankings. The OVC was not great then, but they at least had wins against a ranked Memphis squad (in Memphis), won the Alaska shootout, won at UAB, and collected another ranked victory against St. Mary's in the Bracket Buster game. They went into the tournament as a #6 seed with a lot to prove. They handled Colorado State in the opening round and were up 6 late in second half against #3 seed Marquette, before falling short in the end. Hoping for a similar story with the Redhawks!

An 8 seed is crazy.

Weirdly enough, when I was driving for Lyft last year, I had three consecutive days where I took someone from the airport all the way to Oxford as students were returning to campus from I believe Thanksgiving break. Finally, on the third trip, I decided to take a little time and walk around town as it looked so cool just being out in the middle of nowhere. It is a neat campus. I didn't enjoy the drives out there, but once I arrived, it was a cool experience. ?

I always liked it there. You are right though, outside of Oxford, there’s nothing there surrounding or very close to it. I used to stop at a bar with friends in Millville on the way there. That was basically it up 27 from the end of Colerain if driving that way. I always thought Oxford was one of the neater college towns I’ve been to. It’s one of the better ones close to here in my opinion.

They better win the MAC Conference Tournament. If they don't, they will not get in.

Everyone loves a Cinderella story, and I must admit I'm a sucker for one as well. But let's be honest, that Murray St. team, played a much tougher schedule than Miami has played. I'm convinced, if they don't win the MAC tournament, I don't think they get in. Will the committee take two teams from the MAC? That's the question that has to be answered if Miami loses in the Conference tournament.

If they go into the MAC tournament undefeated, even if they lose they are in. With where their NET ranking is currently, they won't be left out for slipping up one time in the conference tournament. Which to answer your question in another post, yes that would mean they would take two teams from the MAC and another teams bubble would be popped then.
