Open Job: Gallatin County

Featured Replies

With Coach Honaker headed northeast to take over at his alma mater, that leaves Gallatin County looking for a new head coach for a second year in a row.

Who are some likely candidates for the job?

He hasn't even coached a down of football at Western Hills, and he is already trying to leave????

Tough loss for GC. Record aside, there was clear progress in the mentality and commitment toward the program. Hopefully they can find someone who continues that trend.

Is there any potential candidates for Gallatin? The new turf field is nice and I heard the renovated their weight room. Is there any possible takers heading to Warsaw?

The only name tossed around last time before Honaker was Cole Mosier. I don't see him moving. BUT, Gallatin is a really well-paying district for rural NKY, and I am sure they will attract an applicant or two.

Per the 2026 Gallatin County Wildcats thread, the job was re-posted to the Gallatin County Schools employment portal on May 12th.

No word yet on what transpired to cause the job to re-open.

I just heard a rumor, so I do not know how truthful it is. However, I heard there was a disagreement between the teacher/head football coach and the principal. I heard that the teacher was told they were removed from their duties as both the teacher and coach effective immediately. Again, just hearsay, but kind of a crazy situation if so.

Any ideas who the next guy will be? Not sure who would be available?

Who would want to walk into a situation like this? The only scenario I can think of if the principal wants to hire someone who knows or likes better. ??

Does Mike Genton move up the road from Bedford? At least as an interim?

Hearing a rumor that former Carroll and Scott Coach Justin Franklin has applied? HC experienced, but not much of a track record from what I gather.

Franklin had success at Carroll but his tenure there ended in a strange way. He has bounced around since then and maybe has had difficult times getting teaching jobs where he coaches.

His success at Carroll I think can be attributed to his predecessor. Once his influence was gone, it kind of went belly up.

Didn’t he already get another head coaching job after leaving Scott last year?

He is the new head coach at Western Hills. Was hired this off season.

I am an old guy... but I have never seen anything like this year and the head football coach openings. Crazy times.
