I don't get going for 2 in that situation whatsoever. There was over 3 minutes still to play in the game. That is like hitting on 13 or 14 in blackjack with the dealer showing a 6. Doesn't make any sense from risk/reward standpoint? But hey, got to play your hand!

I would have enjoyed seeing Golsby at Lloyd this year. Adding him as a target for Kaleb Evans would have boosted Lloyd's chances at getting to a title game, like Golsby's grandpa did on Lloyd's 1976 undefeated state championship team.

It's just a mindset, play to win, not to tie.  It shows your kids that you have faith in them to get 3 yards when the season is literally on the line.  

It's not everyone's cup of tea, but those little mental things mean a lot to teens IMO.

Phew. You hit it on the head there. That type of DNA is different. Golsby would have elevated this Lloyd team. Lloyd has a young player this year of Golsby's caliber that they could use to help them in a title run that it seems has been wrote off. Could possibly be the same reason Golsby ended up at Dixie.

Patience is a virtue. I think Golsby would have had a better junior year at Lloyd than he did at Dixie. But we don't know all the factors that lead to these decisions to change schools. And hindsight is 20/20.

Trying to think of another cliche to add here but that is all I could come up with. ?

Patience is a virtue for sure! 

I think the Golsby family and Dixie community is very proud of Nishawn! I know I liked watching him over the years. Hope he keeps playing at some place somewhere.

I think Nishawn could have got Lloyd to round 3 last year. The injury bug hit Lloyd hard last year in round 2 at the skill positions and he could have been the difference in that one.

Curious how do the Dixie faithful feel about this season?

What do they expect next season after this early playoff exit?

 

 

I wondered why Dixie went away from running Gilliland in the first half?

Burke ran him three straight times up the middle on the first drive of the game (which was an odd first three play calls in a game like that) and then went with Golsby really most of the 2nd and 3rd at RB. When they went back to Gilliland, he ran like Skattebo did for the Giants this year...he couldn't be stopped by less than 2-3 Collins defenders. 

Also, I thought Gilliland and Brad Roaden both played strong in the second half defensively. They should both be forces next year for Dixie.

Injury. Remember Gilliland missed the first four weeks due to injury and we have asked a LOT of his legs the past few weeks. Offensively we were fine throwing obviously and we needed all the help we could get on D. Yes expect to hear Levi Gilliland and Brad Roadens names a lot next year.

Add Ben London to that group.  He really impressed me off the edge/rushing the passer.
