Year 2 at the latest. If he can't become a starter at the smaller school by year 2, then it becomes unlikely he will get to D1. You have to outperform the competition and put up numbers. If he gets to year 3 and he still isn't a starter, then he probably has found his level of ability. The big thing he has going for him as to D1 is his size.

He has a live arm too. Good athlete. 

Year 2 sounds about right. Depending if there is a redshirt year in there or not and also where he is at, maybe 3. JuCo or DII don't count against eligibility anymore do they? I could see him really being his best at 21-22. Would hope he still has another year at that point.

Lol apologies for the confusion. Rest easy, we have one, yes. It's very basic, but to answer your question yes we have a couple set ups.

I got to watch the whole game. Someone else who coaches there has already chimed in that they were not in a prevent defense. I’m not sure why you thought they were. The defense had gotten a number of defensive stops especially in the second half. 
 

As far as going for 2 goes. If you don’t get it then you are down by 1 with around 2 minutes left and one timeout. Kicker wise Collins has one of best in the state. He has college FG range. Going for 2 really has no advantage at that point compared to the downside. 
 

This next part is not directed at anyone but more as a general statement. Unless you are at practices and truly done the research on opponents you are missing a lot of information. These are HS kids not college and not pros. Things aren’t as simple as some might think. There is a ton of behind the scenes stuff in HS football the general public has no information on. Add to that some individuals football knowledge might not be as high as they think. 
 

It’s because of things like this the profession loses coaches. It’s one of the main reasons I left coaching to work in another field related to coaching. 

And this isn't to bash the officiating, but just watched the HUDL film. The Collins TD pass with 10 seconds left before halftime to put Collins ahead 35-28, should have been incomplete. The receiver 100% had 2 full steps out of bounds, maybe a 3rd that one was hard to tell. Took 1 step back in bounds and made the catch. They would have still had 10 seconds to run off another play or two, but that non call was a big miss.

Not just incomplete but a penalty for illegal touching. I’m not sure of the enforcement of that penalty but it would have been a penalty.

5 yard penalty and a loss of down.

Now I’m wondering what down that TD was on. If it was 3rd down then I think they kick the field goal instead of running another play.

It was 2nd and goal from the 9.

Scream this from the mountain tops. Yes this was all part of our discussions in those closing minutes. I think when any or all of us start to Monday morning QB this thing that it takes away from Collins's Coaches and players who did an amazing job down the stretch. And we lost this game way before the last second kick. We lost the first quarter when we as a D staff made some tweaks a tad too late. And, there were plays here and there that we should have made and didn't. If anyone wants to bash us or be baffled by the big whistles decisions, there are other threads for these guys to do it on. Collins earned this victory and I don't want to take away from their efforts in a well earned extra week of football.
