I don't think that's out of the question. It really does depend on the seeding/regional.

Im looking for the Cats to make a huge run but fall short of making the final four.

I think this team has the potential to win a national championship and the potential to lose in round 1 to Nobody State.

They CAN make some noise...BUT they stand no chance at winning the tourney....Randolph won't contribute enough...and before you go nuts...Duke can not win it either.

It doesn't surprise me at all that he would say he expects UK to be a first weekend team. If you went by the chalk, the top 4 seeds in each region should be the Sweet 16. That never happens (and probably never will), but if you're projecting a team to be in that seeding category, you probably think they're going to make it. UK is not in that category yet. The highest projection I've seen has been a 5 seed, and I've seen as low as 7.

 

All that said, it is as everyone else has noted. It all depends on who they get paired against, matchups, etc. UK has to play well to make it past the first and second rounds. They can, but will they?

I agree neither team will win it, but that's the beauty of the tournament, anything can happen, as is evident with George Mason's run last year.

I disagree. They both could in a perfect situation and if they get really hot at the right time.

Id love to see a national championship, no matter how hard I look, at this point I cant see it. I see UK making it to the sweet 16, the Elite 8 is a small stretch to me, but hey, anything could happen. Every team in the tournament has a chance to win it all, some smaller than others, but they have a chance.
