The Trinity Shamrocks welcome the Frederick Douglass Broncos to Marshall Stadium on Friday night for a 6A, Louisville-Lexington battle.

Friday night’s contest will mark the fifth meeting between these two programs. The Broncos took the first meeting in Louisville in 2023 but Trinity has won each of the last three meetings. That includes a playoff meeting in 2023 and 2024. Each of the five meetings between these two have been decided by an average of just 9.25 points. 

Trinity enters Friday after having pounded PRP by a score of 62-0 in their opener. The Rocks took back the opening kickoff for a TD and never looked back. This highly-anticipated second week matchup will be the first test for the Rocks this season.

Frederick Douglass traveled to Ft. Thomas on Friday and fell to Highlands in a 21-20 double overtime thriller that saw Tayden Lorenzen win it for Highlands on a two-point conversion.

I expect another battle between these two 6A powers on Friday night.

 

I'll go with Trinity 28-0. St. X in scrimmage held Frederick Douglass to one TD so I think Trinity can do the same or even get the shut out.

Haven't watched the Douglass game except the OT periods. Word is that on Friday and in scrimmages, Douglass had some trouble moving the ball.

FD- Defense is good, young offense likely won't get on track until district play. 

All Broncos can ask for is to play hard, and escape with no injuries. Scoring a touchdown vs T starting D would be terrific. It is what it is.

 

I think the Rocks can take this game with some authority as long as they don’t turn the ball over 2 or 3 times. Trinity D should be able to handle the FD offense.

Transferred to Woodford County.

It was a difficult game to call for the Rocks last week as PRP has never been more overmatched in the history of their program. Trinity got a few reps with the 1's but otherwise it was just a chance to bang heads with someone in a different jersey and get some valuable reps on tape for the 2's and 3's to reward them for the offseason. Kudos to Coach Walker for at least showing up to play.

Douglass appears way down in terms of the talent they had been bringing in over the last several years and lost to a Highlands team I cannot imagine many people picked to win 4A. Junior LB Tacori Fields looks the part however, and was all over the field registering 24 tackles and also had some nice pressures. The Bluebirds didn't attack the air much throughout the game but did enough with Lorenzen to overcome the missed field goals and still get the win. Dakari Talbert ran hard as well for the Broncos and they will not be surprised by his ability this time around. 

Trinity was without DL KeAndre Thompson and WR Jason Hagan last week and it remains to be seen if either will play this week. DBs Sekou Kamara and Elijah Burns-Crump both saw action, so that bodes well for the defense moving forward. This might be the time where we see the first-look of Kamara, EBC, LA Evans, Myles Howze and Sonny Bratcher all out there at the same time in DC Michael Fox's Nickel look ahead of a massive showdown in Cincinnati the following week. ☘️

Massey ratings have it 36-14. I'll be surprised if FD scores 14.

Trinity should win by several TDs.  Douglas is down and the Trinity D is very good.  I'd be shocked if Douglas scores more than 7.
