This one is the first game of the Rafferty's Bowl, this year being played at Bowling Green. Kickoff is set for 4:00.

The Rebels come into this one off a 0-0 tie in their second scrimmage against Atherton. The Rebels lost a lot of fire power from 2024, including Mr. Football, but there are a plethora of options waiting to showcase their talents on both sides of the ball. The Rebels are led by returning QB Baylor Murphy, and his top target Seneca Driver. They also return a lot up front on both sides.

The Chargers come into this one off a 7-10 loss to Ballard in their second scrimmage. BE brings back their starting QB, added Jayquan Crawford a very talented RB, and are led up front by Baron Hardesty on the defensive side.

Who we got in this one?

Having not seen BE I cannot say how good they are but I know they will be well coached and well prepared. Boyle I have watched and while I don’t think the offense was showing much against Atherton credit has to go to Atherton as they were good on. The defensive side of the ball. Boyle has been known for playing sound defense even in years they weren’t contenders but as a guy who grew up in the early 2000s this Boyle defense was a flashback to those days. They were physical and swarmed the ball like Boyle is known to do. I believe that Boyle is on a trajectory this year that will be historic. You look at these threads and you don’t see the Boyle name near as often in the past. This is something the Boyle inner circle are thriving on. Forget about them and pretend the era of dominance is over. Fuel for the fire!

Boyle Co. 42-7.

I think Boyle wins because of their defense. I'll go with Boyle by 14.

Okay, since I really don't want either team to lose this game, I guess I'm going to hope for a tie game late into the 4th that gets stopped because of lightning.  Then the next day being Sunday and neither team wanting to drive back to BG, they will just rule it a tie.

I'm attending the games, but will there be a live stream for folks that can't make the trip to Bowling Green?

This game will be streamed on Sporting Times.

Looking forward to the start of football season.  I expect Boyle to take some lumps and learn this season with their tough schedule.  Hearing this is the strongest team and deepest line play Justin has had since coming to Boyle.  Come playoff time Boyle will be ready to go and one of the favorites in 4A.  Should be a entertaining game with BE.

I believe BE will be without what is by far their best defender.  I believe he might be out for the season as well due to injury, which I hope is not true, but being told it is.

The game is at Purples Field and not WKU I see.  Is this correct?

That is correct.  WKU was selected as the Conference USA's game of the week vs Sam Houston and therefore pushed BG/Rafferty's Bowl out of WKU's stadium.  I'm told BG asked to play Thursday night or Sunday and were all turned down.  So, they really had no other option, but to play the games at BG's turf field.

For me to be honest I'd rather play at the Purples field than WKU.

I think there are alot of positives to it also @Rebel.  I understand wanting to play at WKU to get that experience for your players as well, but there are negatives there also (parking, and etc).

I hope you and all fans have a great experience at BGHS on Saturday.

It's going to be pretty great weather for August, so I hope it's a big crowd!
