I thought this would be a good place to discuss this year’s tournament as it could be the one ever with any number of great games. 
I thought here we could discuss all of the teams and games and just have a thread for Kentucky’s games. Here attached is the bracket now that all of the seeding is finalized.

 

                                                 

This conference tournament is definitely wide open. #1 seed Auburn has lost 2 of their last 3. #2 Florida is riding a 3 game winning streak but gave up a bit of a head sceatcher to Georgia 2 weeks ago. # 3 seed Alabama has lost 2 (in a row) of their last 3. #4 Tennessee has only dropped 2 games in the last month, Ole Miss last weekend and UK all the way back on February 8th.

Everyone could use and SEC tournament Championship right now and just about anyone could win it. 

For Kentucky, I would have very much preferred that it wasn’t Bama in the 3 seed, but at the same time, I don’t know that I’d have felt that great about trying to beat Tennessee a third time. 

I feel confident one of the top 4 seeds will win this year’s tournament. I have a hard time seeing any of the others being able to reel off 4 (or 5) games in as many days. Case in point, if UK wins Thursday, it will be their third consecutive conference win. That would be their longest winning streak of the SEC season.

This is about a good draw UK going to get. The top bracket we have lost to 6 of the 8 teams and the  bottom one we are in have won against 5 of the 7 teams.  I agree with Bugatti it will be one of the top 4 seeds.  We are actually due to lose our next game, because we haven't won 3 in a row

I think Auburn is ripe to get knocked out early and re group.  If they don't regroup and get re focused they will not get through the Sweet 16.  I just feel like something is off with them currently.

I think Kentucky can get Alabama on the third try.  Florida not so sure if they can get them in this scenario.

You also wonder if Auburn was coasting somewhat knowing they'd clinched the SEC title and presumably a #1 seed over a week ago. Risky game to play.

Kentucky is 12th in the NET rankings. So UK is in a good spot to get a 3 seed, and most likely will get the 3 seed unless they lose their first game in the SEC tournament. Even then though we have seen in the past, that seedings haven't changed much based off how things go in the SEC tournament. 

Seeing the bracket with 16 teams makes me feel old.  I remember when there were just 12!

Cal has been very consistent on his thoughts on the conference tournament for years, while Pope made it clear from his first press conference that he does care about winning it. Which they both are right in a way. Pope is right, because no matter what you do you should want to win. Plus especially at UK where all the fans travel it is important to try to win. Cal is also right because at the end of the day the conference tournament doesn't really matter much besides for maybe improving your seed, which he also says in that interview. However at the end of the day the conference tournament means nothing even to fans, if the team turns around and loses right away in the big dance. I know UK could win the SEC tournament 5 years in a row, but if Pope fails to do much in the big dance no one would care about them winning the SEC tournament though. 

So I think both coaches are right in a way. However, Pope definitely handles the approach better with the media than Cal is. Especially at UK, you can't say things like that even if it is true.  Cal is probably saying the same thing as the majority of coaches think, but he is dumb for actually saying those things out loud IMO. 

First game was nearly a disaster for Arkansas. After leading by as much as 18 I think, Arkansas went on a 10 minute stretch with no baskets and only a couple of free throws. South Carolina cut it to a one possession game late, but a DJ Wagner 3 stopped the bleeding.

South Carolina had every opportunity to win this game, just couldn't make a shot when they really needed it. Cal and Arkansas hold on 72-68. They will play Ole Miss tomorrow. 

Texas/Vandy are a combined 0-12 on 3's half way through first half.

Brick after Brick, most haven't even been close. 

Texas up early 15-9.

Vandy down 15 at the half.  This would be a very bad loss for Vanderbilt, which I would assume could knock them fully out of the NCAA.  Bubble teams watching closely.
