Quisenberry wanted to stay and play basketball an leaving had nothing to do with the coaches. His NIL is the reasoning for leaving.

I don’t know whether it was NIL specific as UK expected kids to do this before the days of NIL (like Tommy Zeismer), but I do know he wasn’t planning to leave early when he was committed to WVU. We can debate who knows what, but I stand behind my comments on his uncertainty on playing had he stayed.

Regardless, that’s in the past now. Boyle needs to work to hire a coach that’ll have a good relationship  with the football staff. One that can create excitement around the basketball team again along with a positive culture. It’ll take some time to win again given the departures this past year, but there is significant opportunity to do so over the long term.

If a guy is too insecure to take the Boyle basketball job because of their football success, doubt he is a very good coach.  Mason County basketball made Mason County football much better. You ha

I got a chance to talk to him and he said he really wanted to play but he wouldn't go into so that just kind of said something to me.  Plus, I have heard that a lot of the NIL deal have that him them.  You are correct, it is in the past and but wish that the kids could stay or would stay.  You will regret not playing all the high school you can.

Looking forward to this week, thinking that thing will hopefully get going this week.  Been hearing a name but not going to say.

Has the name been mentioned in this thread?

Took me 40 years to realize it, but I screwed up not playing basketball my senior year. Fouled out in a quarter my first varsity game as a junior, playing Lincoln Co. Beyond bad.

My ego/pride got me my senior year... didn't want to sit on the bench. Even at my age, good lesson to learn...if your ego is making the decision, probably a bad one.

Wonder if the Rebels will have a post player as good as old Junior Daugherty was in the early 80s?   Good guy! I think we battled twice a year from 7th grade through sophomore year. He was better than me but I tried to at least battle him, block out & keep him out of the lane. Those were good days!

Hope the Rebels can get them a coach soon. Black & Gold basketball has crazy potential.

Boyle County should hire Hagen Tyler if he wants the job. Period.

How much experience does he have?

He’s been at Taylor County as an assistant for a few years now and he runs the middle school program over there as well.  I want to say he did some graduate assistant coaching at Campbellsville University once he was done playing there before he went to Taylor County.

Playing under Steve Adams and Keith Adkins gives him extensive knowledge of the game and hopefully Boyle County will bring him home and let him grow since it appears like the program will be starting in a new direction regardless of who the next coach is.

Is getting your first HC job at where you played really the best thing?  I would think it would be really difficult.  Hagen could def knock it out of the park, but will probably have people trying to latch onto him as well.  But, you did make a good point Purple he has solid mentors and would need to lean on them as a young guy.

I did hear a name yesterday I haven’t seen in this thread.  Would be hard for me seeing this guy leave, but with potential connection to football it’s not out of the realm.

I would think that it would be wise for Hagen to think long and hard about taking the Boyle job if it was offered.  At his age the best long term move might be to find an assistant coaching job in college under a really well respected head coach.  Once he's in that network he could probably land a head coaching job in college in a few years and there's no comparison between the money he'd make in college compared to high school.

I have a feeling that we'll see just about every college program hire shooting coaches just like they did strength coaches when they finally realized that strength training is important.  Many of the NBA teams have shooting coaches and I predict the college programs will catch on.  With the way Hagen shot the ball in high school and college (he average over 40% from three point range in college his entire 4 years) IF he could teach that skill to his players he'd be a prime candidate to be a shooting coach at a big time program.

He’d still have to work his way up to that kind of job and that involves networking.  Becoming a high school head coach will only improve his network.

Just seems like Boyle basketball is headed to some dark days.  If Hagen ain’t that guy then they better get someone who will be just as enthusiastic about the program as well as knowing their place in the building.

Good luck.

One of the first jobs to open and still no hire is definitely a red flag.

This does seem to be taking longer than expected. Does anyone know the classroom job availability situation?
