Is this the only job in the 12th opened right now? I just figured this job would be one many would want. So far it seems to be kept really quiet.

Yes, I think the State Tournament being later has impacted that some.

If a guy is too insecure to take the Boyle basketball job because of their football success, doubt he is a very good coach.  Mason County basketball made Mason County football much better. You ha

Could be some dominoes off the Boyle County job. And as @LethalPG said, a late state tournament may impact this as well.

Most of these Admins will put off any decision making until after Spring Break with it falling so close to State.

Tyler would be my first choice for Boyle. Just seems logical.

Young could do a good job. He is decent with on court coaching, and would work hard at it. Not sure Young would be a big upgrade from Webb.

It feels like Boyle is looking for a basketball equivalent to Haddix. Will need to hire someone with charisma, and the willingness to build a bridge. Both of those are hard to find!

Steve Adams and Hagen Tyler spotted together at State Tournament.

Young runs some of the best offensive in the area. I think he would be a huge upgrade from Webb imo.

If Boyle didn’t go for him I think it would be a huge mistake.

Wouldn't hang my hat on a guy who runs a lot of sets. Gonna be hard to run many sets when you don't get your team until the middle of December.

Somerset went to the state semis in football, while Boyle Co. went out in Region Finals this year.  Boyle and Somerset go deep into playoffs almost every year.

This could be just a rumor, but I heard at the state tournament this week that Jeron Dunbar has shown interest in this opening. The person I heard it from has strong connections to Boyle County. I just found this hard to believe.

This is true.

Man, I’ve never understood that narrative. IMO that’s  always been more of an excuse for coaches at football schools. Maybe the coach is a little behind their first year but once their system and style is installed, you have a returning corp that is familiar with it all.

After that first year, maybe they get off to a slower start in December than other coaches. But come mid-January, there’s no deficit because of football, and certainly not come tournament time. And there is a big advantage to having that good football program in terms of athleticism and strength. It helps to improve all players in those areas.

I’d be surprised by that given what the talent pipeline looks like, comparatively. But that’d be a good thing if true.

My guess is Hagen Tyler because of the day job situation.  I think Hagen would be a good hire as an alum, and has been around solid basketball coaches in his young career.
