I think he is more mad that his son was never given a chance to start at running back. He was the back running back his Freshman and Sophomore year. Then Junior came rarely hot a chance he if played offense they lined him up at WR. I but the things the coach said is what is the issue.

Once again that gets back to truly how much talent Cooper had. The last two years at the skill position is the most talent cooper has ever had. Mason no doubt would have been a good offensive player too, to go along with being a great defensive player. However, unfortunately for him there was also many other talented players too with him. It’s hard to argue that Cooper made the wrong decision starting Keagan Maher at RB. Maher has put up huge numbers at RB the last two years, so it’s not like Cooper played a lesser player over Mason at RB. Cooper played a guy in Maher who is a great RB and has backed it up too. Mason is a good offensive player, and even a better defensive player. IMO it’s hard to argue that Cooper did it wrong on how they used players offensively and defensively the last two years.

No offense, but, while this is a nice message, we're going to need you to go out to the car and record this in a violently passionate way.  Production value matters here.

I'm having a hard time filling in the gap between how mad this guy is and the high school career his son got to have.  Now, I know I'm posting this on a forum particularly devoted to NKY High School F

I still don’t see the issue outside of him wanting his kid to play offense and he’s kicking himself in the but for not moving his son to another school For that opportunity. Transfers are easy these day so blame yourself. Most high school kids would rather go to school with their buddies and let whatever it is be what it is.

It is more of what the coach said and told people.

If you watch the video. It seems Borchers made it personal and the dad is furious.

If he made it personal, wouldn’t the player have not played at all and not been a captain?

Even that doesn’t add up considering Mason did still play some offense this year. If he was going to hold something against Mason, I doubt he would have started defense, and all special teams while playing some offense too.

I just looked at the stats for the two main backup running backs for Cooper behind Maher. The two backup running backs was Mason Stanton and Ryker Campbell. Mason had 10 carries last year for 38 yards and a touchdown. Ryker had 14 carries for 162 yards and 3 touchdowns. So Cooper even has another very talented guy in Ryker as a backup too on offense along with Mason. So this is literally a case of Cooper literally just having a lot of extremely talented guys at the skill position on offense, and why they platooned a lot playing guys more on one side of the ball. So I don’t see that as being personal being held against Mason for why he may have not been featured on offense, as much unfortunately for Mason there were other talented guys too and Mason was even better on defense than offense.

Coopers qb did get a offer from Yale.

This is good post and more back on topic for the 2025 Jags. I expect Ohara gets a lot more offers over these next few months.

That game was won and lost up front on both sides of the ball and Cooper was on the short end of that stick… and it wasn’t close.

Wasn’t he at Highlands for middle school? Why did he leave?  Not sure how he could say he’s the “freakiest athlete” on a team with Austin Alexander and Isaiah Johnson either. Ultimately I just feel really bad for the kid if he was mistreated over his dad’s actions.

Watched the video and good golly that dude is fired up. Had me ready to go drop a people's elbow on my daughter's (5th grade) volleyball coach for all the money I have spent on that.....And I don't even get a sign.

I believe so .. also believe he played CYF a number of years.   All seems like a major over reaction by an overzealous parent.  Maybe take a look in the mirror and realize overzealous dad was possibly another reason the kid lost the love of football.

Maybe Borchers is in the wrong here  and held a grudge against the kid because of his dad.  Watching that video though I think it’s understandable why that would happen.  We wonder why people don’t want to coach or officiate anymore.   Can you imagine dealing with that?

He was them moved to Union.

You can definitely see his passion for his son but this is over the top. I am sure his son doesn’t want this circus going on it’s quite embarrassing. If it was really as bad as he is saying he could’ve transferred his son to another school especially with all this “money and lawyers” his dad says he has.

For what it is worth, I feel very fortunate to have played for Coach Borchers when he was an assistant at Ludlow.  He is a good man that has taken the time to help mentor me at times over the last nearly two decades as an educator.
