Best One-Liners you have heard Coaches say

Featured Replies

My favorite was from a football coach who was so ticked off at one of our lineman being a wuss. He grabbed him by the facemask and looked him in the eyes and said..."insert players name....you aint so tough... in fact I think If I ever met you in a dark alley I would keep my wallet"

Or when he told another lineman he wasnt tough and if he was he would reach down and grab a handfull of dirt and eat it. Like a goofball, the kid reached down and started eating dirt. Coaches are so mean. Hahahaha.

From the coach who was asked why his team didn't seem to be up for the game---playing for third place is like kissing your sister.

The best advice you can give to a kid after a loss. If a fan or friend ask what happen the player should say "if you were there you know what happen" and if the fan says he wasn't there then the player should say "then you should have been there".

"Jake Bell"

A player from my high school had thrown the basketball away several times in at Hazard many years ago, I think 1969. Our irate coach called timeout.

Coach, drawing plays on the sideline floor with chalk and pointing to the X's and O's:

"Jerry, do you have any idea where you are?"

Player: "I'm in Hazard's Memorial Gym."

Coach: "I give up!"

I heard a certain coach tell someone after he was asked about his team and said he had kids who couldn't make 2 with a pencil.

We were playing in Carter City in Carter Co and I was in the 8th grade in the 50's and dressed for the varsity and at half time our coach told one of the varsity players that he was going to knock his teeth out and the player replied in a half crying voice "if you do , I'll bleed all over you".

"Hey ref...how about a little help here...he's going to need that right arm some day"

"Hey #43...if you're going to get held all night at least get a kiss!"

"Hey ref...don't call a foul, throw a FLAG"

Those are good one's, especially the first one.

I once heard a coach tell an official after a very rough foul that was not called HEY THEY GET 5-10 ON THE STREETS FOR THAT

In a game in Gallatin Jones had a T and the ref said for him to keep his butt in the chair, a little later in the game Jones gets up and starts walking the sidelines holding the chair to his butt, and tells the ref he is still sitting.

Son your shot release is so slow you could time it with sundial.

I have seen milk turn to cheese faster than you.

Hey ref, your gonna be doing a girls game next week. Ref said "What it there coach." Later on the coach said "I sorry about what I said before" I didn't mean to insult the girls like that. I meant to say grade school" At that point coach got the big T.........lol.

Once a fan told West Carter girls bball Coach Hop Brown after a loss, "Well Coach, you can't win 'em all." To which Coach Brown replied, "You can if you're good enough!" Loved it!

I also heard Coach Brown ask his team one time, "Can anybody tell me what a team at tournament time that doesn't play defense and a dog in the middle of the road have in common?" None the players could answer his question and he quipped, "Neither one of them will be around very long!"
