I can't imagine a NBA top 5 without Oscar...

1. Michael Jordan

2-5 (in no particular order). Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Bill Russell, Oscar Robertson

Michael Jordan

Larry Bird

Pete Maravich

Oscar Robertson

Jerry West

1. Oscar Robertson. He averaged a triple double for A SEASON. And came within a half a rebound to doing it in SECOND SEASON. And came within a half of an assist in doing it for a THIRD SEASON.

2. Wilt the Stilt

3. Michael Jordan

4. Larry Bird

5. Magic Johnson

Some great lists here, I can't come up with one. But I do have to say I don't understand why Toni Kukoc or Danny Ferry isn't on anyones list. lol

There isn't a Top-5 w/out the "Big-O" on the list. Why continue if he doesn't make the list? There is no reason to b/c he was that good, maybe the best guard ever after MJ!

Imagine what the Diesel would have done had he played in Wilt's day.

My top five is Oscar, Jordan, Shaq, Magic, Bird.

I've had my share of dust-ups with you lately, so perhaps I'm blinded by that, but again, I just don't see any possible way to leave Wilt off this list. I'm a huge fan of Shaq, but he couldn't lead the league in assists if he had a gun to his head.

Shaq would flat DOMINATE Wilt if both were in their primes. Wilt can't get past the 6'9" Russell's shadow. Imagine how big the 7'2" Shaq's shadow would fall had he played in that era.

Oh my. I'm speechless. Utterly and completely speechless. I need to sit down.

I can't imagine there is any possible way you could make an NBA Top 5 list and not include Wilt. I just can't imagine what the argument would be.

After some consideration, I'd have to agree. I'm just not sure who I put him in for.

I may be a little too young for this whole topic, b/c I can only go on what I've heard and read and not on what I've seen. Here's my questions for you so that I could put a list together. This doesn't ask for pisitions so if your list would have to have Wilt (I agree w/ that by the way) does it not also have to include Russel? Would you have had to have won a title to be considered? I've read that stats were extremely inflated when Oscar was on his magical run. Is that true and if so how? Is there any denying that the players now are for more athletic all around than the older guys? For instance is it possible that Wilt and a few like him are just like today's athletes and not everyone was as athletic and big as they were?

Oscar Robertson

Michael Jordan

Wilt Chamberlin

Walt Frazier

Dr. J

Others::

Jerry West

John Havlicek

Earl Monroe

Bill Russell

Kareem

Larry Bird

Pistol Pete

Jerry West

Wilt couldn't beat Russell like Russell beat him. If Shaq had played in that era, do you think either could have played with him. I've watched video and both are slower, smaller, and just not the physical specimen that Shaq was in his prime.

Look how small Kareem looks next to Shaq.
