Look you can score 70 points a game, but if you dont win its absolutely pointless. Oscar Robertson did not win like some of the better players of all time. Also dont you think players were better in the 80s than in the 70s?

Dont you think playing against Moses Malone, Bernard King, Dominique Wilkens, Isaiah Thmas, Hakeem Olijawon, etc, etc, was a little tougher competition than most of the players in the 60s?

You do realize there were 9 to 15 teams in the NBA so it wasn't as watered down. He was drafted in to a bad franchise and was great. He won a title. He won MVP. Did you ever consider Kareem had the numbers he did because he was playing with a legend? Notice how his numbers declined a year after Oscar retired, and then kept going down? And Kareem was only 28 at that point. If he played in a 20-30 team NBA he wouldn't be playing the greatest dynasty in American sports history 4 or 5 times a month. I know this is hard for you to grasp, but as the #1 pick in 1960 Oscar was drafted into a bad franchise and made them respectable and a contender for the title. He never got past Boston. Not many did. That changes NOTHING in the fact that he's one of the best 5 basketball players ever...

 

 

I hate that arguement because today the NBA players today are bigger and stronger than ever before. The worst player in the league today would have been a very good player 30 years ago IMO.

Look Im not on here saying that Oscar Robertson isnt a great player. He is IMO easily a top 10 player of all time. But I put him right below some other great players. Players in the 60s were not as good and yet the Royals still only won 50+ games 1 time. I just simply think that there are 6 guys who when I think of great, I think are great than Robertson was.

Guys hes a great player, but maybe Im in the minority for having team success play a major role in all time great players. But shouldnt winning be important?

 

Of course you've backed yours up with mounds of evidence. I guess Terry Bradshaw leads your all time NFL team? BTW, his link to Cincy has nothing to do with him on my team. I saw him play live and I've sat in meetings spanning literally hundreds of hours with him over the years and I can't stand the guy on a personal level. The way he dominated from the guard position simply can't be denied. His all around dominance certainly matched Jordans.

Saying he is just as great, dominant, or what have you is simply way off. Jordan was the Bulls dynasty in the 90s. There is no comparison with Jordan and Robertson. Jordan took Pippen and a bunch of role players who werent that good and won 6 titles.
