January 31, 200719 yr I see you are avoiding my question. How many teams were able to win a title over the Celtics in the 60's??? Thats why in my mind Bill Russell is simply more suited for the top 5 of all time than Robertson. He was the ultimate winner. Robertson couldnt even lead his teams to good records most seasons.

Robertson couldnt even lead his teams to good records most seasons. My only problem was that Bill Russell was more limited to defense and rebounding then being an overall threat. Big O was a much more complete player. Double digits in rebounding. Double digits in assists. 30 point averages in scoring.

Triple double season. 2nd in East in 63/64. Lost in 5 to Celtics in East finals. 2nd in East in 64/65. Upset by 76ers in Semis. MVP. 3rd in East in 65/66. Lost to Celtics in Semis. Had a 2 game to 1 lead but Celtics won last 2 games in best of 5 series. 3rd in East in 66/67. Lost to 76ers in Semis. New coach in 67/68. Missed playoffs. Turmoil begins. Turmoil swells in 68/69. New ownership getting antsy and making bad player and front office decisions. Miss playoffs again. 69/70 Bob Cousy comes in and trades Jerry Lucas for Jim King and Bill Turner (who?). Tried to trade Oscar, but Big O nixed the deal. Team falls apart and Oscar is traded at the end of the season. 70/71 wins Title. The Celtics as a team dominated the decade, but the awful Big O had them on the verge of elimination twice. If you have a Top 5 team without Oscar, it's clear to me you know little about his game and are going only off numbers. How many times have you actually seen footage of him playing the game???
January 31, 200719 yr Let me be more specific. He didnt get MVP of that NBA Final that he won. That was Jabbar's team. Also, he only got 1 MVP award and only 1 title. I just dont see him as a top 5 player. While you are mentioning Jabbar, need to point out that his team's couldn't win it until he got two of the greatest players of all time in the Big O and Magic on his team.

However, all NBA players have the option of being listed by either their height with shoes, or without shoes. In the cases of all 5 NBA giants above, they were listed by height without shoes. Chuck Nevitt, Yao Ming, and Shawn Bradley, all chose to be listed by their barefoot heights. Nevitt would have been listed at 7'6" with shoes, Yao at 7'7" with shoes, and Bradley at 7'7" with shoes, had they opted to be listed by the NBA at their height with shoes on. Bol and Muresan chose to be listed at their heights with shoes on. So Bol, who measured at 7'6 3/4" barefoot when he entered the NBA was listed at 7'7", his height with shoes, rounded down. Muresan was 7'6 1/2" when he entered the NBA, so he was then listed at 7'7", his height with shoes, rounded down. Bol grew another 1/4" to 7'7" even barefoot, and Muresan grew another 1/2" to 7'7" even barefoot as well. Thus, their heights with shoes on, then should have been updated to 7'8" by the NBA. However, their heights were simply never updated by the NBA. So they too ended up being listed at their barefoot heights. Many people incorrectly believe that the heights for these 5 above players are their heights with shoes on, since that is how the vast majority of NBA players are listed.
