January 30, 200719 yr How old is he in that pic????? It was the beginning of his Laker days it looks like. I'm not sure. I do think Shaq would be better head to head against Bill or Wilt, but I do think both are VERY good players. I just find it hard to believe that everyone puts Wilt of the list. I understand why he's on the list because he's got GREAT numbers, but IMO numbers don't make up the fact that Shaq dominated 7-footers and Wilt dominated everyone under 6'9" and had trouble with Russell who was shorter, but was athletic enough to contest his shots.
January 30, 200719 yr Comparing how Wilt and Russell would match-up against Shaq is ludicrous. The athletes are different...much different. Comparing Shaq v. his peers and Wilt v. his peers paints a pretty clear picture. Also, keep in mind, Russell had a MUCH BETTER cast around him than did Wilt. Listen, I'm as big a Shaq fan as their is, but outside of 5 feet, he has HUGE limitations. Again, Wilt, in addition to ridiculous scoring numbers, also managed to lead the league in assists one year. Can't believe we're having this conversation.
January 30, 200719 yr Russell who was shorter, but was athletic enough to contest his shots. Do you think that Shaq is athletic enough to contest his shots? I know that is not what you are saying but I believe that is where Shaq would struggle against Wilt.
January 30, 200719 yr Wilt averaged 35 points and 22 boards...for a freaking career. Come on IAMaFan, this HAS to be a no-brainer.
January 30, 200719 yr Wilt averaged 35 points and 22 boards...for a freaking career. Come on IAMaFan, this HAS to be a no-brainer. The numbers are some what inflated but, no question he is better than Shaq
January 30, 200719 yr Author I'm old enough to have seen both Wilt and Shaq when they were in their prime. There's no comparsion. Wilt is better and with room to spare.

January 30, 200719 yr Michael Jordan Magic Johnson Wilt Chamberlain Kareem Abdul Jabbar Bill Russell Best of the rest.... "Pistol" Pete Maravich Oscar Robertson Larry Bird Jerry West Shaq Julius Erving Elgin Baylor Hakeem Olajuwon Karl Malone and Isaiah Thomas should be in with the best of the rest.

College basketball players are bigger now that the pro's Wilt played against. Morris would have averaged 25 a game in the NBA at the time just because he's so big. Imagine Shaq playing against guys that weren't 7 feet tall. He's pushed around centers bigger than Wilt. Wilt pushed around guys playing center who would be small PF or SF in today's game. If that's not a factor in your decision than fine, but it's a factor period.
January 31, 200719 yr Michael Jordan Oscar Robertson Magic Johnson Larry Bird Wilt Chamberland Suprised that I didnt see Reggie Miller in other peoples "other" column. I think if he didnt play in the era of Michael Jordan, he would be very high on peoples list's. Any thoughts??
January 31, 200719 yr Oh my. I'm speechless. Utterly and completely speechless. I need to sit down. Who types while there standing anyway ????
January 31, 200719 yr Karl Malone and Isaiah Thomas should be in with the best of the rest. I agree but there should also be about 10 more on that list. I was just naming a few off the top of my head.
