Purples rolled into St. X and beat St. X with the passing attack of QB Deuce Bailey and great effort by the BG defense against the St. X offense. Good luck to BG in the 5A playoffs.

Purples looked like the real deal tonight. Honestly felt dominate at times. Just shocking because you don’t ever see that against X.

Did the loss to SW finally ignite the fire under this BG team?  What a turnaround.

Bowling Green played their best game of the season at the end of the regular season. I watched the X vs Manual game and X is a tough team, but the BG defense really showed up tonight and took almost all momentum X could generate away. 
This is the kind of game that BG typically begins a run with. I hope that plays out starting now. 
 

Goos Luck to St X the rest of the way. Honestly, I felt the Senior Night festivities took X off their game at the beginning somewhat. They took the opening kick and went 3 and out and never really got into the game. But still a lot to play for!  
On to Madisonville!

Congrats Purples on a huge win! BG can never be counted out. Are they back as the favorites in 5A?

This win likely prevents a longgg 7+ hour round trip in the semis for Bowling Green (given they make it that far). Just a huge unexpected win. The fashion they did it was stunning. Credit to those kids.

Only scenario where Bowling Green would face that trip now is if each of Cooper, South Warren, and Woodford County advance to the semifinals (with Bowling Green of course). Two of those (Cooper and South Warren) feel likely. It would be surprising for Woodford County to make it past Highlands. Possible, but surprising. 
 

Feels a lot more likely we get a good old fashioned Bowling Green/South Warren tilt in the semis with a state final appearance on the line. It would be their first meeting beyond the second round since 2017. 

As a side note, since this game was renewed in 2011, Bowling Green leads with an 8-6 advantage over the Tigers. 

If you extend it to when they matched up since the turn of 2000, it’s a dead lock 8-8 series.

Needless to say, what a great game for these two teams. Super competitive and just an overall superb match up that has blossomed in to a mini rivalry due to the coaching trees connected and the game results in the series.

Simply put, didn’t see this one coming. Not how you want to end the regular season but road for the Tigers has not changed. 

If you can't control the line of scrimmage, you can't control the game.  St. X has become a perimeter-oriented team.  I do not think that is sustainable against good teams.

You control the line of scrimmage, you control the ball. You control the physicality.

Championship teams are balanced, yet they control the line of scrimmage.

I am not condoning a 3-yards-and-a-cloud-of-dust strategy.  I am advocating a return to developing offensive linemen.  I am advocating a balance offense that is capable of being efficient in the passing game and also being able to play with power when needed.  That is not happening at St. X.

I do admit, I thought St X should have run the ball more last Friday.  They had some success running for 3 or 4 yards.  Would have been a good idea to try to just pound it at BG for one full series and see what happened.  Oh well.
