The first edition of the 2024 TP94 Power Ratings game out today and the top of 1A is very close:

For reference, here is how the 2023 TP94 Power Ratings looked to start last year:

Has the pack caught up with Pikeville in 2024 or is this a statistical anomaly because Pikeville is 0-3? 

I'm not prepared to say they've caught Pikeville. I do think Campbellsville is very good. I think Newport Central Catholic has their best team in a few years. I also think Hazard has rebounded nicely from an awful 2023 season. But I still think Pikeville walks off Kroger Field with a trophy come December.

Pikeville vs. Raceland this Friday will provide us with more info. 

 Campbellsville played Pikeville tight last year (28-21).  Since Peyton Smith's transfer from Taylor County to Frederick Douglass, 2 Taylor county transfers have made their way a couple miles down the road to Campbellsville (2.7 miles to be exact).   Turpin a junior lineman, pretty good on defense for TC last year.  The bigger add is Cross Watson, who is a really good athlete and star on the defensive sdie for TC last year (and a pretty good WR).   Since his transfer to the Eagles in 3 games, he is their leading scorer with 7 TD's.  leading rusher with 207 yards on 15 carries (5 rushing TD's).  He is their 2nd leading tackler and has 2 TFL. 

The QB Eastridge is back as well, so Campbellsville should be loaded and ready to go this year and challenge for the 1A title.

I really believe the brutal schedule Pikeville has played this season will be telling tonight. Panthers leave Raceland with the W.

Pikeville is the best until they are beaten by anyone in 1A. With saying that, I believe the chances of it happening are better this season than the past few. Raceland proved that they are very good playing them tonight. I also believe that Campbellsville is very good and likely better than last season. Newport Central Catholic is better than last season and may have one of their better teams in the past few seasons. I believe that the later part of the 1A playoffs could be more interesting than some anticipated at the beginning of the season.

Hazard also is showing they shouldn't be counted out.

Late November is going to be AWESOME in 1A.

I agree. Some of the quarter finals and the semifinals should be great.

I think Pikeville is at top until someone proves they are better. But we do have a log jam behind Pikeville. I don’t think the question is, “has the pack caught Pikeville”, I think the pack has caught up to Raceland, or Raceland is not as dominate this season. Semantics, but the result is the same. 

I think many people were watching the Pikeville/Raceland game to get a read on 1A, but I think we will get a better read on 1A with the Raceland/NCC game. We will know how close the race is for second then.
