I heard ex Mercer County Coach Josh Hamlin is interested in both jobs. East and West.

With that said, maybe he has zero interest in leaving Somerset. But I think with family not in the area, he would definitely listen to offers. 

It might be a good move for Coach Young but I can think of some reasons to stay at Somerset.  As I said earlier in this thread he's going to be at one of three schools with a serious chance at winning the Class A regional every year.  DCA and Danville will be Somerset's main competition with Trinity as a possible competitor in the future.  Danville is down right now and may stay down given the problems their football program is having and the fact that they are losing some of their better athletes to Boyle for football.  Somerset probably won't have that problem because they have a good football coach and made the playoffs this last year.  Going to the All A state tournament may not sound like a big deal to people associated with bigger schools but it's a great accomplishment for the players and students who experience it.

Somerset's enrollment is 528 which is way more than DCA (78) or Trinity (75).  He should be able to develop enough players with an enrollment that size to be able to compete in the 12th region.  If he schedules intelligently he should be able to consistently win from 15-20 games a year.

Somerset is always going to be in the 12th region.  If there's a chance they reclassify the Jessamine schools in with the Lexington schools it would be a difficult task to win consistently there and I'd think Somerset would be the better choice.

It’s clear enrollment size at DCA will not mean much.

He won two region tournament games at Mercer in 5 years and they were all in 2018 season with Mr. Basketball.  One district championship in his time at Mercer also in 2018.    

I’d like to see Coach Hamlin return to the district. Give me all the drama! Lol

I think we have had enough to last a lifetime. 

I wish they could talk Kevin Sisler or Brock Radkowski to come back take the helm but I don't see that happening at this time. Both were key assistants throughout the Kelley years (and for Brock, even predating Kelley).

I think the pool is going to be deep and with the proximity to Lexington I think you'll get some really intriguing names out of the 11th as well as the 12th.

Surely not. 

If I were an ad/prinicipal in the CKY area, I would at least kick the tires on Steve Adams.  I am pretty sure he is still teaching at Boyle.

I’d agree with this. I’d go out on a limb and say Boyle County wishes he was still their coach. He done a great job year in and year out, and always had his teams playing their best basketball at tournament time.

If he has the desire/passion and wants to still coach, I would think he’d have to be in the conversation for any local openings. But if he jumps back in at this point, I’d have to think he’d be pretty selective. I can’t imagine that he’d want to have to totally build/rebuild a program.

One would think West might be of interest. And there will likely be more spots come open over the next several weeks, so there will be other options out there to consider. Things typically heat up after the state tournament.

Any news on this one?
