Boyle County Basketball/Football question

Featured Replies

Boyle's football coaches are not paid to worry about their basketball program.  Back to my original point, the core issue for the basketball program is that Boyle Co. is a football school that can be good at the other sports as well.  The football program "attracts" athletes that have helped the basketball program over the years.

The workouts are only an issue when they lose didn’t you know that?

I have been around the Boyle County program for 33 years and (keeping stats for the football team for 33 years) this has been going on since Coach Smith was here.  I have also been doing basketball stats for 17 years and it always has been a question when this has happened.  But we have always seemed to do okay after a few days.

First, let me say that I have personally talked to Coach Haddix, he said that all the coaches want their players to play all the sports that they can.  I believe him when he said it.  The football players are a big part of the basketball team and make a big difference in the games.

Second, yes, the Hagger kid did quit but I was told that he quit because he wanted to concentrate on getting better at the TE position in football.  I hope that is true and look forward seeing him on the football field.  Believe me when I say that he would help this basketball team this year and is a good basketball player and hope he comes back out next year.

Third, I don't know if in the longer run that lifting weights hurts the guys by lifting and then playing ball.  I know that when football boot camp started there was a couple players saying before a basketball game that their legs was jelly.  But since then, they have been playing pretty well and just think it takes their bodies a little time to get use to the workouts.  Anybody that has lifted weights knows that your body will take a little time to a just to the lifting.

This year's basketball team, I think, is going to be ok and will be a factor in the region.  If win this team is playing well the ball is moving and our assist are really high with little TO's and we are hitting some hots.  We the assist totals are low, that seem to me when we are losing most of our game.  So I don't think that in the long run that lifting the weights hurt the players.  This is just my opinion and so take it for what is worth.  Only thing left to say is "WHO YA WITH".

The 45th district champs football/basketball players worked out this past Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday at 6:45. They were also up with their team at 6:45 Thursday and Friday stretching then getting shots up while their teammates lifted. And they also beat Lincoln 60-46 and upset the region favorite DCA 52-45. The four Boyle players who made the all district team and the MVP of the district tournament were also football players. Just a fun fact!

I think they are great athletes that have flipped the switch and played like everyone expected all season. They will be a very tough out...

These athletes for Boyle are dynamic. Quisenberry & Brown are fun to watch and makes plays from anywhere on the court. Will Quisenberry & Brown play Football at the next level?  Both are potential collegiate basketball players also. Wonder if they have any offers on the hardwood?

They are tremendous athletes and great basketball players. I do not think they have any basketball offers and certainly not the quality offers they have in football if they do. Don’t be surprised if we don’t see them on the basketball court at all next year. I could see them graduating in December and heading off to their respective colleges to be able to go through spring practice and be ready for the fall season.

They are explosive on both the turf and the court. Great to see such talent in our region.

With the transfer portal what it is today very few freshmen coming in have much chance to play or make an impact that freshman year. The only one I see remotely playing that first year is Quisenberry and that is highly improbable. Most players will be well served to finish out their senior year enjoy the sports they participate in and  the other activities that go along with your senior year. You are only young once and you can't get it back once it is gone.

I don’t disagree with you at all but it does happen. I think Zeismer did. I agree they should be kids as long as possible.

Is it football season yet?
