Bill Belichick and the Patriots are parting ways

Featured Replies

What an 18 hour period in which two of the greatest football coaches of all-time. First Nick Saban retires and now Belichick is leaving the Pats. Who replaces him and more importantly where does he end up?

Vrabel seems to be everyone's pick for heir apparent.

I really wish it was Pete Carroll though. That would be hilarious.

Belichick goes to San Diego, right?

I am hearing Atlanta.

What is the argument for Atlanta? My thought with San Diego is he has a QB to build around there. Atlanta, out of all of them, is the one with the biggest question at QB IMO. Now, is there an argument that either them or Seattle are the most "intact" overall team? Sure.

I agree but what I have read and seen that Belichick would be 3rd on the list. The first choice I have read and seen is Harbaugh and now 2nd choice is Pete Carroll.

My thoughts are Bill should be done coaching.  IMO the game has passed him by and he no longer has the knack for finding those players that slip through the cracks.

Has Harbaugh said whether he's committed to staying at Michigan yet?

Yes, his time to hang it up is probably now.  I just don't see the point in dragging out a career that was so good at one point, just not to not let it end.

I watched the presser, weird.

If I was Coach B I am going somewhere that I can win immediately that is warm.

I don’t think it has passed him by at all. He is simply having the same issues almost every coach has when they don’t have a good QB. Which even finding those guys that slipped through the cracks only worked because he had the greatest QB of all time. Without him, those same guys would have never been heard of much. Which is why those players never did much if they left the Patriots.

If he goes to say San Diego where they have a stud QB in Herbert. He would be able to focus on the defense like he did when he had Brady.

Actually, Jerod Mayo has been seen as the heir apparent in NE for a couple years now.

Do the want a Belichick tree guy or do they want a new direction.    If you are going to take Mayo or Vrabel, why not just keep Belichick?

I think the theory is that Bill the GM and Bill the Coach are a package deal. Bill the GM has not been successful for a few years now and that's the main problem.
