Since we are at that time of year, who do you think has been the biggest snubs of Kentucky’s Mr. Football?

Interesting thread. It would be better if the posts included the name of the winner and some info about why the person who lost should have won.

I'll throw one out there, Jonathon Jackson. Mayfield.

Played both sides of the ball, excellent. 2012. Was as good a high school  player as you could find on both sides of the ball.

Had over 2000 yards rushing in 2012 and was an all State linebacker. Led Mayfield to 4 straight Title games and 2 Titles including 2012. Very rare a 1A guy wins Mr Football.

I should’ve clarified, this is all time. Let us know the year!

We had JJ on our All BGP Team in 2012 and James Quick from Trinity was our player of the year.

1989.  I felt Donnie Redd of Danville should have been Mr. Football.  Great career and then moved to QB his Senior year and the Ads had one of the fastest Wishbone Backfields I've ever seen.  I think Pookey Jones was the winner and I'm certain deserved it but Redd was the consumate great player every year he suited up.

You could argue strong cases for Rondale Moore and AJ Mayer in 2017.

D'mauriae VanCleave had a fantastic year for Danville, but that selection hasn't aged well.

It's hard to make a case for anyone being snubbed in 1994, because it went to Shaun Alexander that year. But Chris Redman was one of the most celebrated quarterbacks in state history. There's probably only a few years where Redman wouldn't have won Mr. Football, and '94 was one of them.

I was going to mention Rondale Moore, too.

Walker Wood was a huge snub in 2016. Carothers had a great season but Wood finished with better rushing stats, as a quarterback.

You have a right to your opinion, but this is inaccurate. Walker Wood rushed 200 times in 2016 for 1320 yards while Jamale Carothers rushed 181 times for 1410 yards in 2016

Jamale Carothers won the award fair and square accounting for 5 TDs in the 2016 5A Championship game. IMO

So he had less than 100 yards rushing is grounds for Mr. Football? Carothers had a great season, but when you add in that Wood had 3000+ passing yds and 30+ TDs throwing, shouldn’t be hard to decide.

Carothers had 884 receiving yards and 11 TD to go with it as well.  Walker Wood got blown out in the championship game, Carothers carried his team on his back.  I am biased though, so to each their own.

Championship games are a team accomplishment. Also, it’s a 6A championship compared to a 5A championship. Mr. Football is an individual body of work. 60+ tds in a season and almost 4500 yds of offense is a better season IMO. Even with a championship win.

That Bowling Green team would’ve beat or at least had a very very competitive game with Trinity.

I always wondered if Rondale was snubbed because he was from New Albany, IN and because he transferred from New Albany HS to Trinity after his Sophomore season.

But then again as a T grad, I'm a bit jaded and bias LOL.  I loved the heart on that kid.

What about Jake Johnson from Pulaski all time receiving catches and yards.
