Absolutely. In my experience of public school funding, you get the bare minimum of allocated funding and everything else you have to fundraise and hope for donations.

You're right. So that makes it even worse that we find ourselves in this situation. A lack of coaching and behind the 8 ball on recruiting, paying out $9 million a year with no way to get out from under it

UK pays Stoops as a Top 10 coach and 5th in the SEC. Hopefully you get the production to mirror that kind of paycheck but I don't think we have ever consistently got that kind of production. UK is getting out recruited by coaches that don't have the guaranteed money that Stoops does.

The advantage is being able to choose that your kid gets that kind of education and environment. Tax dollars don’t automatically go directly into the football budget for schools. Public schools have to get donations for any extras. Food before games, travel to games, equipment, and are just a few things that cost money and are funded by donations, boosters and parents. Some public schools are poorly funded and a deep playoff run can be a burden financially. Private schools overall environment is a better than public schools. The kids that play private don’t typically have to deal with things public school kids have to deal with in and out of school. A young person being able to attend a private school is a huge advantage for more than just sports. The atmosphere of a private school education is better. Which in turn, can cause their athletic programs to flourish.

That would be an advantage.

If private schools didn’t have advantages over public schools why pay for your kid to go there?

Facilites, I am sure you can find me a picture of where a public school is better than a private. Go to Lafayette’s (largest high school in the state) vs Trinity’s. Lafayette’s weight room and locker room all fit under their gym’s bleachers. Players, private school kids don’t have to deal with what a lot of public school kids have to deal with. There are more issues among public school’s teams just based off of the players and families of players.

It's a coaching problem. Coaches don't care so kids don't. Asking an official to add checking 22 kids for a mouth piece each play is crazy.

Multiple botched snaps on PAT and FG, 12 penalites for 105 yds, 2 TO's, while giving up 1 sack in a loss is not an offensive line problem.

That a AD problem that we got ourselves into with our basketball program as well. Hopefully that can be corrected in future contract negotiations

There is always a chance for a public team to beat a private. Football and any given Friday. However with the advantages that a private schools has over public, they shouldn't compete for the same end of the year trophy.

Who cares if we lose Marrow? The whole staff has to go. It’s a top to bottom culture problem.

I can agree with that. I do believe Wood left that game with an injury and it wasn’t a blow out at the time. I do believe it should be factored as well. I don’t believe it makes up for lack of stats.

Carothers

Championship games are a team accomplishment. Also, it’s a 6A championship compared to a 5A championship. Mr. Football is an individual body of work. 60+ tds in a season and almost 4500 yds of offense is a better season IMO. Even with a championship win.

So he had less than 100 yards rushing is grounds for Mr. Football? Carothers had a great season, but when you add in that Wood had 3000+ passing yds and 30+ TDs throwing, shouldn’t be hard to decide.

Walker Wood was a huge snub in 2016. Carothers had a great season but Wood finished with better rushing stats, as a quarterback.
