I wish Boone could get back to the level where this could be a game, but they aren't and it won't be.

All great in theory. Not so much if you are up 42 to 0 and continue to play your starters for “conditioning reasons” and lose a key starter due to an injury a game that is already won.

  • Playing their starters for a half or less in the Dale Mueller Era was never an issue and didn't stop multiple state championships.  Shouldn't be an issue at all..

In my opinion, HHS best win is Lex Cath at this point. I know Lex Cath will most likely only end up at 6-4 or 5-5 but their losses have come against Boyle, Corbin, Highlands by 7 and LCA by 7. They al

I think it is going to get worse.

Look for a free place to stream audio and video?

Friday, head on over to the FT Film and Broadcast YouTube channel! I’ll be live from the desk with the pre game show at 6:40pm.

Great job by Brennan_Bucher on the radio broadcast last week!  Thank you !!

What are the factors or reasons?

The area Boone draws students from has been going downhill for decades and more than ever the good football players living there are going to different high schools.

Go ahead and use a permanent marker. Highlands will end the regular season 9-1.

The regular season I agree. However, I need to preface this by saying I do think Highlands has a good ball club. They have the players and coaches to possibly go the distance this year. Will Highlands be ready come playoff time? Or we looking at an early playoff exit scenario? Sure, they beat Cooper, outside of that where is that signature win? They beat a 1A Raceland team and loss to CovCath. Outside of that, the average win total of their opponents so far… is two. The remaining regular season schedule may not give them much of a look. How ready can you really be when your starters only play half of a condensed clock game?

They also still have Scott Co. on their schedule. Lex Cath is #4 in RPI in 3A and will make a deep run in the playoffs.

That doesn’t seem to be the model this year anyway. Seems like starters stay in til the 4th regardless of the score.

Has there been a game this year where they needed to pull all the starters and put in the JV players? Seems like the coaches are doing a good job to get everyone involved as they fit. Glad to see this program getting better and its looking like they are going to be a contender for a deep run in the playoffs. Something that hasn't been seen in a long time... 9 years maybe...

I don't see that happening this week or we will end up with a "running up the score" issue that no one wants.

If I’m the coach for Highlands I’m worrying about the rest of the schedule for conditioning purposes. They’ll name the score until the second round of the playoffs. If I have to “run up the score” to ensure my guys are in the best shape possible, then so be it. No one ever wrote an article about how nice the victor was in a regular season game.

Don't do it Coach Sphire, you will regret it.
