It would seem you are missing the point in my proposal. There is a very small section that can increase TV exposure, and UK isn't taking advantage. I get both sides of the debate, and I think I came up with a more than solid solution. It ends the problem with student tickets, and moves only a small number of fans into decent 2nd level seats...

How Rupp looks on TV doesn't concern me...it looks like 24000 fans to me. I don't see any other arenas that look more exciting, certainly not 15 rows of students hopping up and down...

One point that I'm surprised no one has brought up yet is the recruiting issue. In my opinion, Rupp is an awful place to bring in a recruit. I'm as big of a UK fan as anyone and you can talk about money until you're blue in the face (no pun intended) but Rupp is Deadsville. You get a kid visiting Rupp and then heading to Duke, Fla, they could care less about Rupp's "tradition". I mean Rupp is a historic place but kids like Patterson, or any hot recruit for that matter, aren't looking for that. So in terms of recruiting, I think more lower student seating would be valuable.

I understand your proposal and it's probably the best I have heard thus far. I really do think UK needs to do something to give a better percepion of Rupp. But IMO, if you do anything at all regarding moving seats, your going to have a lot of upset people. So rather than UK starting a public relations nightmare, I think they should just stick with what they have. After all, it gets them the W 9 times out of 10.

Another semi-solution which I think is actually reasonable is moving the students from the lower level side sections (adjacent to the eRupption zone), and putting them behind the other basket. I've sat in both the eRupption zone and the aforementioned lower level student seats and to be honest the side seats are tons better. Sounds reasonable to me. Not that this would put more students lower level but spread them out more.

It does look pretty passive though... You watch a Duke game and you see everyone into the game going crazy cheering for their team... You see a Kentucky game and it pans around the crowd and then... BOOM! SOME ACTION! Two old men shaking hands!

Im telling you, you are pretty much the only person who thinks Rupp looks like an exciting place to play. Yeah when you compare Rupp with other arenas and how many more fans we got at the game, you would think Rupp would be a more exciting place but its not. When recruits see all kinds of students yelling and jumping by the court, it looks alot better than Rupp arena where mostly everyone is sitting is quite...

I wonder how many top ten recruiting classes UK has brought in since Rupp was built? I would guess more than most teams.

Until tonight I didn't know that giving students more lower arena seats would solve the recruiting problems and win a lot more games...:laugh:

No matter what your going to have upset people. Right now you got upset students who should be closer to the court. Students who pay lots of money in tuition to go to the school, yet have to sit up high in the stand to watch THEIR OWN SCHOOL play...
