January 15, 200719 yr Can you prove that? Is there any scientific proof that says that the louder an arena gets, the worse the opposing team plays? Is there actual proof, no there is not...But you are just being hard headed and argumenative if you actually dont believe louder arenas get in players heads and can effect their play, especially when it comes to 18 to 22 year olds...
January 15, 200719 yr True, but once again having more students down by the court would help out the team alot more, and isn't that what everyone wants is UK to win...As I said before these other top programs that have more students on the court, still seem to have nice things even without the large donations, so why do you think that we wouldn't be able too? You'll find that most of those schools are funded much better than UK by their respective states. Not to mention UF has about 20,000 more students than UK, making their alumni base much, much larger, which in turn means more money.
January 15, 200719 yr I know that. But you said if it weren't for those people there would be no basketball team and we wouldnt' have some of the things we have now. But I ask you this, then how do these other top programs still manage to put all these students on the court, yet still have nice things even without all the large donations like we get? So yeah once again Im pretty sure if these other top program can survive without the large donations, then I bet you we could too.... Read post #47. :thumb:

All I know is that you are crazy if you think UK wouldn't be able to have a basketball team if it weren't for the donations of these people. Because they would and it still would be a great basketball program...
January 15, 200719 yr It's not free to rent Rupp... The people who pay for those seats help to rent out the facility. If you want to talk about students getting seats on the sidelines, you'll need to find them a cheaper place to play, and I'm sure it would be one that doesn't house half as many fans.

So yeah once again Im pretty sure if these other top program can survive without the large donations, then I bet you we could too.... But we don't want to. So you want the University to give up a huge sum of money so you can sit in lower arena at basketball games. That doesn't make one bit of sense to anyone but you. And it shouldn't even make sense to you.

I don't think it has that big of an effect on them, especially if they are playing a quality opponent. What is UF's home winning percentage compared to UK's? Is it really that much better just because they threw some students on the sideline? Or is it even better at all?
January 15, 200719 yr There is an easy fix to this problem. To start make the first 15 rows on the camera display side students. Second you need to make room for luxury suites in the back 15 rows below the cameras. This will allow for the big money sitting opposite the bench to have a new suite away from court side, and the people you moved are not the blue bloods providing the cash...

Not many years at all compared to UK, so you really cant compare the winning percentages...Also but recently I would think Florida's winning streak at home is pretty high, because they have had 2 long winning streaks at home over the past 2 years, and are on another one right now...

Because they would and it still would be a great basketball program... I guess I am crazy then.. Because the program would suffer greatly if you take the money away from it. That's common sense. But you have your opinion and I have mine.

Who's going to fund this project? The people who would be losing their seats?...I for one, don't want to sit in a luxury box.

Does this mean you agree that you do think UK needs to do something to try to help make Rupp more of an exciting place to play?
