Do UK Students Need a Different Section For Basketball Games?

Featured Replies

No one will go from a seat on the floor to a box in the sky. From my seat on the floor last night I literally could not see the top rows of Rupp...it's like a mile away from the floor...

I proposed the luxury boxes in the back rows of the lower level on the camera side. Still right on the action...

Not to mention if you take away 15 rows of seats for those box's, your also going to be decreasing the overall seating capacity. Then you have to turn away some of the current ticketholders, most likely those in the upper level, just to make room for the lux boxes.

So the school should take away people's tickets, lose a lot of donations in turn, just so they MIGHT win an extra home game every couple of years? That makes absolutely no sense to me.

Why do we have a basketball team. It is to win games not to lose them, so winning more games makes alot of sense to me. I really dont know what you dont get about that...

If it's about pleasing the big money, those filling in the upper corners aren't in this discussion...

It's a good idea, but where do you move the people who sat in the back rows of the luxury boxes? Lux boxes take up a lot of space and the overall capacity would likely decrease. Which would mean telling some of the current ticket holders that their tickets are not going to be available anymore.

But there is no guarentee that they will win more games! What do you not understand about that? It would be an awful lot of trouble for everyone involved just for a chance to maybe, just maybe, win an extra home game every couple of years.

If that's all it's about, why not just leave them where they are then? I don't hear any of them complaining about not having luxury boxes, if they were, they would already have them.

How many rows would luxury boxes wipe out? I believe there are only 30 rows total in lower arena...I think lower is too small for luxury boxes...anyways, again, students will never get the first 15 rows of lower...just ain't gonna happen.

Is Rupp sold out before student tickets? It seems there are upper level tickets available before most games. I'm not denying that there would need to be a sacrifice to make a move that's more related to today's recruiting world. Perception is reality, and the view of Rupp on network TV is lacking. I'm just trying to present a reasonable solution...

Is Rupp sold out before student tickets?

Yes. Other than student, coaches/players, and media allotments, every seat in the arena is sold before the season starts. The only time tickets are made available to the general public is when the students don't use their full allotment.

That is kind of weak, because as I said before you are just being hard headed and argumenative. Because you know just as well that a place that is louder has alot better of a chance to get into other teams heads than a place that is quite, and in close games that could have an effect on the outcome...

Yeah that is not true. I know plenty of people who always just call the ticket office and there are usually always tickets available for them ahead of time, before they even know if the students allotment would be sold out or not...

They're always pretty easy for me to get when I want.

Then so be it. No matter what someone is going to get the raw end of the deal. Right now the students are by having most of the student seats being up in the upper arena. So if people have to lose their tickets because of the luxury boxes and so students could have more seats by the floor than so be it. Because as I said before this is the reason why UK exist is because its a college for students, so they should be able to be closer to the floor to watch their own school play. Not to mention doing that would also help out the program, by making a better perception on tv for recruits and other. Then as I said it could have an effect on the outcome of the game, when you have students yelling by the court when they other team is trying to run an offense and shoot...

I'll bet that your not buying them from UK's ticket office.
