I think Ricardo needs to be a high school assistant first, I made that argument to many when the Holmes job was open too. I certainly don't discredit the experience he has though. 

I worked in Covington during Ricardo's days there. I don't doubt his desire and passion to coach a bit. He's starting to get a bit of a reputation in NKY coaching circles that he doesn't want to work his way up anywhere either, which doesn't bode well for landing a job. I've heard that from an AD and NKY coach personally. 

All good.  I don't know his full story but if the things you've mentioned are accurate I truly hope someone is providing that feedback so he can improve.

Again, regardless of who gets the job, experienced or not, they've got their work cut out for themselves.

It isn't about minimizing his role.  It is just stating the facts of his roles.  And while college experience is great, I think that he needs to see what it takes to run a program before taking it over.  I have seen several great college players get head coaching jobs without HS experience and most of them have lasted a very short time.  There's more to it than the basketball side and like @ChickenWyngz said, the feeling is he is beneath being an assistant.  And if that's how he feels then he may have to wait a long time before getting an opportunity.

“Three guys interviewed, Ross Hart (current JV hc), Mike Noszka (fired from St. X in March), and Ricardo Johnson (young buc). “

“Lot of the families, myself included want Hart, but one stubborn power to be is attempting to hijack the hiring process although wasn’t even in the interviews. Total (edited). All because of a so called “poor” JV experience for his boy, in which Ross was Jv coach. Unless others step in, it’s going to be Noszka come Monday”

I have an idea who it is. If Ross Hart doesn't get hired, I won't be back as statistician.

Ross deserves his shot for sure, hope he gets named.

2. Ricardo Johnson is over qualified to be a head basketball coach in NKY. The fact that he does not have one yet is suspicious to me. 

3. I’m starting to question the powers at Beechwood. If we aren’t giving guys jobs because of JV ball there needs to be some reflection on who’s important. Also don’t think Beechwood is treating alumni applicants very well in this process. 

I don’t think it takes a rocket scientist to know who the person is that would get involved and make this entire thing a mess.

Guess someone on the interview committee thougt he had enough experience deserving of an interview.  Like I said, maybe he needs some actual HS experience or maybe in this case he may not if he was interviewed.  May be an extreme example, but Steve Kerr didn't have a drop of head coaching experience and it seems to be working out just fine so maybe the Beechwood powers thought, why not?

I'm still shocked as heck he's not the head coach at Holmes.  I think he'd make an excellent coach wherever he lands.
