Where does Patrick Patterson stand?

Featured Replies

A friend of mine said he was reading on the Duke website where they had stated Patterson was a lock to go to UK. How they came to that conclusion he didn't say.

Here is Patterson's quote in the Lexington Herald today:

He said his ideal college destination would be “something smaller” than UK

By the quote pretty much dropping the bomb on us that Wake Forest may have just won the PP sweepstakes if he intends on going to his "ideal college destination."

But like some have said you really can't read into some things too much. Every newspaper has something different, and most twist comments out of context in order to fit the predominant audience who will be reading. For example, If Patterson said this in a five minute interview, the HD may include this quote only to give WV fans a little bit of hope. Like GT said, I have noticed a lot of stuff from a few newspapers are the same thing on Scouts and Rivals.

I honestly think he is clueless at this point.

It doens't sound like he has a number one school, or is even wanting to narrow it down anytime soon.

He has one.. Just doesn't want to let the secret out.

I already let it out... ;)

I think he knows but wants coaches to keep coming around so other players on his team can get seen.

I already let it out... ;)

Shame on you.

I would be shocked if he ends up coming to UK. This is the same type of player at the same position we have missed out on for the past 3-4 years. I just don't think high caliber players want to play at UK any more.

Rajon Rondo, Joe Crawford and Morris were AA coming out of HS:rolleyes:

They have been the only high profile recruits to step foot in Lexington since Walker, Mercer, and Anderson. True our Junior class was very impressive, but one impressive class every 5 + years isn't a good rate. You can roll eyes all you want but inconsistency in UK's recruiting is one of the biggest reasons for the decline in the program. Crawford, Morris and Rondo were AA's, but what can you say for the senior class of Perry, Woo, and Thomas? Or better yet the sophmore class of who Jared Carter? It really cracks me up how everyone always plays our junior class card to defend Kentucky's recruiting because everytime anyone ever goes all in on the junior class/UK recruiting card, then someone else will be there to rake in all their chips.:thumb:

With a class that features 3 McD's boys and another 4 star in Bradley, you want role players around them. Biggest problem has been that the McD's boys were overrated coming in.

How about the class of Hawkins, Daniels, Fitch... was that a decent enough one for you?

Great class, developed really well. However the statement was based on highly tauted, elite, big name recruits, and Mercer, Walker, and Anderson were the last of that breed before our Junior class. Don't get me wrong we have got talented players who have developed well, but as far as 5 star guys or McD's Guys we haven't seen that many. I understand you need role players, but what will happen once these guys (Crawford, Morris, Bradley) graduate or decide to jump to the league? A lot of teams get it done with superstars, and college isn't as reliant on role players as the NBA is.

I was mainly talking about high caliber players at the PF position, as I stated in my original post that you quoted, "same type of player at the same position we have missed out on". Just like how we have missed out on Tyler Hansbrough and Brandon Wright most recently, so... right back at ya.

What players have developed over the last few years at UK? Morris has shown some improvement against mediocre teams. Crawford is spurtty at times. Who would you think has developed?
