Where does Patrick Patterson stand?

Just what I thouht. It's about students getting more lower arena tickets. It will never happen. Like you said, nowhere louder than Rupp when it counts...

No what it is about is making Rupp more of an intimidating place for other places to play at. Because for most part of games Rupp is dead, and that takes away any homecourt advantage for the Cats. As I said I admit when everyone is in it and yelling there is no where louder, but the thing with that is it usually only happens for 5 minutes AT MOST during the games. I bring up having the students down in the lower section, because if there were more students down in the lower section, Rupp wouldn't be as dead as it usually is during most of the game...

Also why shouldn't there be more tickets in the lower arena for students, because after all that is what UK is. Its a college for students, and students should be able to be closer to the floor to watch their team play...

I guess i would ask then, how many games at Cameron and the ODome have you been to...Yes, these arenas can be loud, but, do you really think when Duke is playing a UNC Ashville, SC St or the like, that they're always loud and roudy? I say no and are not even sellouts alot of time with alot less capacity

No when they are playing teams like that I dont think it would be as loud and roudy as normal. But I bet you during most of their conference games they are loud and rowdy for just about everyone...But here at Rupp just this past week for a conference, the crowd really never got into it, until the final 5 minutes once it realized that wow we better start yelling because this game is going down to the wire...

Patterson did stay and sign autographs and take pictures with fans for about 15-20 minutes after the game.

He was sitting with his parents and some of his teammates.

OJ Mayo and a few others were in another section.

Until UK builds another arena, you will never see students on the sidelines. The school would lose way to much money for that to happen. If Rupp had luxury boxes and club level seats I would say it is an option. But alas, you have to work with what you have.

The majority of students would not be able to spend the kind of money to afford seats on the sideline. The people who "own" those seats cough up serious dough for them. You are right, UK is a school, a school that would lose millions if it took away the seats of the life-long fans to give to students. It seems to me like you are a student that wants to be a part of a rowdy student section that is right on the floor like you see on tv when you watch a Duke game, which there is nothing wrong with except that it really isn't possible in Rupp. The arena isn't nearly as compact and the seats are farther from the floor. Also, you may have played basketball and you may not but I know that if I had to choose to play on the road in front of 24,000 fans who live their lives by UK basketball or in front of 9,000 fans with a crazy student section, I would choose the student section.

Yeah those 24,000 fans my live their lives for UK basketball, but they sure keep that inside during the games, and only yell at very small part during the game...

Also the students pay alot of money for tuition to go to this school, so they should be able to go and by close by the court to watch THEIR OWN SCHOOL play. Also student tickets are only 5 bucks each, so students would be able to afford them if they made some seats by the court student seats. I know the university is making pretty good money from the students, because almost every year they keep raising the tuition on us anyways. So the students should get the right to sit close and watch their school play...

Also there is a whole thread talking about this now, so if you want to talk about this anymore, just join the party in the other thread...:thumb:

I just saw it and started posting in it. Thanks:thumb:

I have to disagree with that. I think that is one of the reasons why a lot of recruits decide to go to other places over UK. Because most of these other schools like Duke and UNC seem like a lot more fun places to play in. Those places are usually loud and into it every game. While at Rupp the place is usually dead for the most part, and might get loud for a minute in the game then dead silent for ten minutes. The only time Rupp is loud and crazy like those places is when we play UL, Florida, or some team ranked in the top 10...

That's another reason why teams seem not to be that afraid to play at Rupp because they play at places a lot more crazier and roudier than Rupp. So Rupp is not intimidating to these young players anymore. Until UK decides to put more students down by the court like other schools, Rupp will be a dead place and not help UK when it comes to home court advantage, and would also possibly lose us some recruits...

:thumb: I agree with this wholeheartedly. We have way to many fans that set on their hands. They come to socialize.

I agree, but in fairness to these fans you are referring to, it is not their faults. Your older crowd (referring to those not in college and regular season ticket holders) is going sit and cheer when necessary and not always on their feet jumping around like people want. It is a university and Rupp Arena problem, not the people there.

Here is Patterson's quote in the Lexington Herald today:

He said his ideal college destination would be “something smaller” than UK

I bet Morehead State and Marshall would sign the kid right now!! That's something smaller than UK!!:jump:

Virginia and Florida both have big campuses to my understanding, particularly Florida. And he has said he does not like Cameron Indoor Stadium. Which basically looks like he said nothing to sway people either way in my mind.

Fact is, PP is like every other recruit. (I mean this with no disrespect to anyone, I have been guilty of it as well...) Some try to act like they know what is going on in his head by reading tidbits on message boards, and rumors. There is only a handful of people that know what Patterson's intentions are and where he would like to end up next season. Chances are people do not have access to his intentions and everything at this time is just speculation.

That leaves Wake Forrest. I expect to see him at Duke, however.

I think Duke is at the bottom of the list right now - unless he is just feeling everyone full of crap. He said he did NOT like Cameron Indoor at all.
