January 16, 200719 yr I think Duke is at the bottom of the list right now - unless he is just feeling everyone full of crap. He said he did NOT like Cameron Indoor at all. I just don't think he's going to base his decision on where a team plays. I know I wouldn't. He said he didn't like Cameron, he never mentioned that it would affect his decision in any way, shape, or form. Coach K is good at snagging these kids when you least expect it.

I don't know if I'd make it the sole reason, but IMO where you play is a huge factor. You're going to play over 50% of your games in that one venue, so I think it would matter if you liked it or not.

I think its a choice between UK and Florida right now. WVU would be close to home. He was blown away with Florida the first time he visited, I think.
January 16, 200719 yr I think its a choice between UK and Florida right now. WVU would be close to home. He was blown away with Florida the first time he visited, I think. But he said he was looking for some place smaller than UK. He sounds pretty content on a small campus. That pretty much eliminates UK, UF, UVA, and even WVU. Anyone would be blown away once they step foot on UF's campus, however he said that UK was a little bigger than what he wanted to experience, and UF is almost twice the size of UK.
January 16, 200719 yr ^ Fact is, PP is like every other recruit. (I mean this with no disrespect to anyone, I have been guilty of it as well...) Some try to act like they know what is going on in his head by reading tidbits on message boards, and rumors. There is only a handful of people that know what Patterson's intentions are and where he would like to end up next season. Chances are people do not have access to his intentions and everything at this time is just speculation. I completely agree. However most information I have on him has come from his interviews in local newspapers.

I did'nt realize that UF is that big. I would say that Tubby would hire a roomate to walk Patterson all over campus if he needed to.

January 16, 200719 yr My ideal campus includes a secret tunnel with access to the Playboy Mansion on site... but if everything else is right I settle where the best fit is. Just a thought to keep in mind. I wouldn't read too much into any comment like that, totally unrelated to what he's looking for as to a basketball program. If a player says they're big into academics, 9 times out of 10 on signing day they'll go with the athletic program they like and say something along the lines of "I was really surprised by Fillin State's academics, I feel I can get as good an education here as at Georgia Tech, Duke, or other schools that were recruiting me."The only one of those that I pay attention to is 'I want to stay close to home.'
January 16, 200719 yr Most of the quotes I've seen make the papers have been taken from recruiting sites like Scout or Rivals, and then turned in to local stories. At that point quotes have been cut and edited twice...

I would say a lot of the stuff scout and rivals have on him have come from the HD.

Most of what I see there are staff reports after he's interviewed. The quotes we are talking about here are from a CP interview, right???

I can't say for sure, without looking through their archives, but I believe they were, and almost all were written by a HD reporter, not taken from other sources. I do know that he'll be down at Duke within the next two weeks and will most likely attend the BC game at Cameron. I expect him to have his mind made up soon after.
January 17, 200719 yr I would hope that most fans won't dislike any recruit because he picks another school. Its Tubby that will be disliked if he goes somewhere else. Right now next years roster looks like this: Back court: Ramel Bradley - G - Senior Joe Crawford - G - Senior Derrick Jasper - PG - Sophmore Jodie Meeks - SG - Sophmore Michael Porter - G - Sophmore Dwight Perry - G - Sophmore Front court: Randolph Morris - F/C - Senior Perry Stevenson - F - Sophmore Jared Carter - C - Junior A.J. Stewart - PF - Freshman Ramon Harris - SF - Sophmore Mark Coury - F - Sophmore Mike Williams - C - Freshman Hopefully Stewart can contribute as a freshman, and Carter will come back strong after the injury. The cats will be in real trouble if Morris leaves. Is Carter going to get a medical redshirt for this year?
January 17, 200719 yr As much as I want him to be in UK blue, I think he will be a Gator after Noah and Horford leave for the league.
