I know for a fact that none of the current staff applied for the head coaching job or had any desire to. I talked to 3 of them and they all said the same thing; everyone is a paraprofessional and couldn’t swing it to be the head man with their careers.

This is the same thing I was told.

Is there going to a press conference live from the Saddle Club to make this official? 

I am going to third both CWB and gbballfan21, I was told by multiple sources that no one on the current staff applied.  Furthermore, I was told (true or not I will leave to others) that the two most important people on the current staff said they will stay two more years to assist the new coach.

I think the Saddle Club got scooped, maybe it is KJ's and their no cover charges that include live music cutting into their business. 

If this is the true hire, how do the Beechwood faithful feel? How does anyone who really knows football think this will work out? He has two rings and has a strength and conditioning background, which I assume was a plus on the resume. Good luck if true.

Speaking for myself only, it is just like the Bengals, I have to trust the powers that be at Beechwood on their judgement when it comes to talent. 

If I am looking at his resume I wouldn't even think he would get an interview.  Now, that probably isn't fair of me but it is how I feel. 

1. Not many people out there with a quality resume (looking).
2. Amazing connections!

3. Resume has some great stops. 
4. Humility from taking a quick head job. 
5. Support of current assistants will be needed. 
6. Not a bad hire!

Great points on all and a heavy emphasis on this one. Quality/Eye Popping resumes also largely hinge on already quality/eye popping programs. Those jobs rarely come open unless it’s due to retirement (or near). 
 

It’s about making the best of what you have in a lot of places if you’ve had the chance to be a head coach, who you’ve learned under, connections (presumably in the college world w his stop + his brother), and people can say what they want…but, pedigree means a little something (again, his brother). Beechwood being Beechwood, I’m pretty confident that the powers to be making this decision recognize a football mind, leader and personality that it would take to continue leading this program that it expects.

The question on the resume would be Talawanda High School record the last two years. I wondered what the history is at Talawanda before Volker became head coach. Here it is:

2020 = 3-5

2019 = 7-3

2018 = 2-7

2017 = 1-8

2016 = 2-8

2015 = 1-10

2014 = 7-4

2013 = 4-5

2012 = 1-8

2011 = 0-10

2010 = 1-9

2009 = 1-8

2008 = 4-6

So over the past 15 years, 2 winning seasons. In 10 of the 15 years, 2 or fewer wins. Tough program to take on as your first head coaching stop.

Back many years ago I remember Talawanda being pretty good but that is ancient history and your point carries.
