University Heights 74 Lyon County 64 (2nd Region All "A" Quarterfinals)

Featured Replies

Lyon upset by UHA, turnovers not shooting as usual are some of the reasons. Still the best team.

Was Lyon County a favorite to win the State All “A” title?

I would have said yes. They were ranked #5 in the state this week. Huge upset for sure!

Woah that's a huge upset.

Wow, didn't expect them to have a ton of trouble at the All 'A' State level, let alone the regional level. Shocking.

Most definitely.

I would guess the promoters are really singing the blues.  First Bracken goes down and now Lyon.

Wow!!!!!  That is crazy, and I mean no disrespect to a fine, long-term, program like UHA.  But.....WOW!!!

Wonder if Lyon, like Bracken, is running low on fuel at this point. They've already played 19 games, only five of them at home. They're pretty much a six man team too.

Maybe give UHA's D a little credit? Don't know if they've solved the Lyon taming, but they've held all their opponents a median -6 below their season's scoring average.

Slash line from the field was terrible for Lyon Co. and while Shoulders had an excellent game (points/rebounds), Perry (8/30 26.7% & 1/11 9.1% ) and Reddick (2/12 16.7 % & 1/4 25%) had off nights shooting.

Team: FG 23/74 (31.1%) 3P 3/21 (14.3%) FT 15/20 (75%)

University Heights is always hard to beat in the All "A." The Blazers have made 25 appearances in the state tournament and have won it nine times.

Like you, I do wonder if the tank was running low for Lyon County? A Christmas break playing four games at the KOB and four more at the Lexington Catholic tournament, followed by a return trip to Catholic to face North Laurel the week after, makes me wonder if travel and fatigue hit at the worst possible time going against a team that always plays well in this event.
