A week into the season and you've already seen most of the contenders. I'm impressed. I think we can all agree that CCH is always the team to beat every year that's not breaking any news. So I guess let's give Cov Cath the region in December. ?

Let me add Lloyd, I haven’t gotten to them yet this year. Talent wise they could forsure win the region, I think EJ can give them issues without having a true big but again it’ll come down to discipline and defense. I can’t see a team like Highlands or Newport who gets up and down the court beating them.

Agreed. At least 3 teams have a shot. Any team that outsizes them and plays a good zone defense can knock them off. One dimensional at this point with only Ipsaro being able to score inside the 3 point line. Not good enough shooters. Will be a fun regional tourney.

Never say never but it would be a huge upset if they didn’t win the region. Most other teams don’t D up like coach Faust teams do, that’s a huge reason this game was this close. Also not having Kascyl, your second best player is also a huge factor. I’ve seen most of the contenders already, Cooper or St.Henry are the two I'd keep an eye just cause they defensive identity. Outside of that no chance!

I think using the word "huge" is a bit of a stretch.  Is CCH the favorite? Probably.  But I feel more confident this year saying that any one of 4-5 teams could beat them.  Will they, IDK? I think any of Lloyd, Cooper, Highlands, Conner, and possibly a healthy St. Henry can give them an L.  I don't think one could say that about so many teams the last 4-5 years.

Defensive stops are great and they for sure help you win, but teams like Lloyd, Highlands, and Conner who can fill it up on the offensive end always have a chance.

Covcath is too small to win the region. They lose in semis. Take your pick of which team. Falling into the defense and shooting ft’s won’t get them a regional title this year.

Highlands' fan has entered the chat.  You may well end up being correct, but the snark in your response was too good not to highlight.

Cov Cath has out-rebounded every team they’ve played so far this year, including St Henry by 34-24. The height may not be there but guys like Ipsaro and Hussey jump way taller than their height.

I’m talking defensively in the paint more than rebounding.

I thought Covcath needed motivation after this game.

Let’s be honest there’s always about 3-4 teams to pick from the get go as the legit regional contenders. Not hard to see those teams and from that I don’t see them losing. They will have to earn just like they have any other year.

That's a good idea, wish I had thought of that.

CCH will be very difficult for any 9th region team to beat, enough said.

Hilarious. Aiden Jones barely played against the tall St. Henry team and the team did just fine rebounding.  On a neutral court they are 20 points better than anyone in the 9th. Good luck.

Here is the game on St Henry You tube page...
