By the results of the poll from the predictions thread, I’m sure many people are surprised by this. That’s because they haven’t watched Southwestern play all year. 
 

Jason Foley wins his 2nd region title and his first with SW.

 

I also believe this is the first Region Championship in school history for Southwestern as well. Huge night for the Warriors. They have deserved it all year and proved it tonight!

Very happy for Southwestern! I wonder how many more believers they have gained? There’s been a lot of talk about Frederick Douglass, but I honestly think Scott County may have just been about as hot as FD coming into tonight’s game. Congratulations again to Southwestern, I’m pulling for them the rest of the way.

SW took opening kick 2nd half and drove down scoring with about 5:30 left in the third to cut it to a one score game. 

Onside kick recovered by SW another TD drive eats up most of the rest of the third. SW went for 2 and made it taking a 23 to 22 lead...then held on in the 4th.

Did Scott County threaten to score in the 4th at all? Or did they just completely shut down their offense in the second half.

Southwestern also won a Regional Championship in 2011.

Not sure, I was listening in and out. At the end Scott Co. turned the ball over on downs around their own 30.

At the Douglass game someone was keeping up with it on NFHS and said Scott County only had the ball twice in the 2nd half? Both programs are the real deal. Southwestern has been in the region title 6 or 7 times in the last 8 years.  Good to see two old school teams and in one of the “big boy” classes at that make it this far with their styles of play, but only one could advance. Congrats to Southwestern!  Talk about two programs that just continue to always knock on the door and then some.

They made great adjustments at halftime,  and that onside kick was a ballsy call.
