Seemed like everything was cool in the handshake line then he and the other start yelling at each other.

Did the guy he hit put his hands on him to restrain him or in and aggressive manner? If the guy is just trying to keep people apart, then Juwan was wrong for hitting him. If the guy aggressively was hitting him then Juwan MAY survive this.

Just putting your hands up to stop someone moving forward in a scuffle isn't grounds to be punched.

Ok just watched the video over again. He reached over another guy to punch the dude. That dude wasn't touching him and didn't seem to at any point, he sure wasn't close to touching him when Juwan swung on him.

Gard appears to put his hand on Howard to stop him moving forward, then Juwan grabs Gards shirt. They are the separated and Juwan swings at a completely different guy.

I don't doubt Juwan is saying that, the video just doesn't seem to show it to be true.

Let’s not forget that there are millions of young kids that watch these games that should see both teams at any level shake hands following competition as I’m sure they are asked to do after they participate in any athletic event.

Completely irrelevant.

Totally disagree with your analogy but that’s you.

It’s a bad look for Howard, no matter how you slice it.

If he’s not stopped and provoked it likely doesn’t t happen.

True.

Once again, totally disagree with what you are saying as kids pay really close attention to their role models that are predominantly athletes.

He punched him 3 minutes later during the scrum right?  After the Wisky coach stopped him to talk.  Or was there a 2nd confrontation during the scrum, that lead to the punch?

What if they don’t have parents and the coach is the closest thing to a father?

Obviously that’s a different situation.

If your kid swings at another kid in the handshake line, that’s your fault, not Juwan Howard’s.

I just rewatched the video.  Juwan didn’t even punch the guy who stopped him for a handshake did he?  He was essentially punching a random staff member?
