Kentucky 90 Alabama 81

UK was hot from the field. Anomaly type level so I’m not going to get too worked up over that. But, the fact they turned the ball over so few times without their top two primary ball handlers is a credit to Cal and awareness of the players to play within themselves.

Not a good day for the (Dontaie) Allenites. Not sure you could put together a more cringeworthy one minute of action. Dude looked lost as an Easter egg.

Isn’t it great how Cal adapts and is on the forefront of these developments in recruiting?

I don't agree. It was 41-31 when the T happened. The Alabama lead had hovered 10 points for over 10 minutes of play and stayed around 10 points for the next 2 and a half minutes. UK didn't get it belo

  • Kentucky was interest in Kellan Grady and Justin Powell. Grady comes to UK and looks like a borderline All-American; Powell goes to Tennessee and averages four points per game. Recruiting and coaching

I'll help you with this one...

"Thank goodness for a Head Coach that utilized the transfer portal very well to build a solid team for the 2021-2022 season."

The transfer portal is here to stay in college basketball, so there is no point to keep on thanking it.  Good thing Cal isn't set in his ways and adapts to the landscape of the game just as well, if not better than anyone (minus the part where he was pretty late to the game when it came to tons of three balls haha).

There is really no science to utilizing the transfer portal, it just narrows the recruiting scope.  Every coach in the country is well aware of its fortunes.  Cal hasn't gotten all the kids he went after, but has faired very well.  If say, UK and Murray St. have their focus on the same kid, who do you think will get him?

You are 100% correct.

Recruiting and coaching are extremely important, but there is some science to the transfer portal - you don't just open the door and let everyone come in.

I don't think the T had any impact on the game.

Agree to disagree. Alabama made 1 basket after that technical at 4:45 mark.  Kentucky didn't get hot until the last two minutes but Alabama went cold after the technical.

It could have played a role, but I kept telling myself “law of averages.” Big thing for me during the super hot Bama start was that UK was quietly executing at a high level.

Remember, since every loss and bad thing that happens in a game is Calipari’s fault, it’s only right he gets full credit when things go well.

Nah, the transfers get the credit. Not the coach that recruited them and built a team together and got them to all buy in to play some of the best "team bball" we've seen.

Hell, and CJ Frederick isn't even a factor.

So Cal just got lucky that he just happened to put several transfers together that play very well together with a stud freshman and a couple returning guys? Please.

I know it kills some of you to give him credit but man yall are over the top.

Agreed, that was part of the reason I never felt like Kentucky was out of it even after the early double digit deficit. Bama went 0-10 from 3 to close out the half.

In the 4 minutes before the technical, Alabama only made 3 baskets.

Powell wasn't coming to UK after they showed no interest while still in high school.

I believe you're missing my point, but so be it.

Don’t forget CJ Frederick was part of the plan if not for an injury.

So it would appear Calipari/Kentucky were right on both occasions.
