So it would appear Calipari/Kentucky were right on both occasions.

I'd say the jury is still out.

Isn’t it great how Cal adapts and is on the forefront of these developments in recruiting?

I don't agree. It was 41-31 when the T happened. The Alabama lead had hovered 10 points for over 10 minutes of play and stayed around 10 points for the next 2 and a half minutes. UK didn't get it belo

  • Kentucky was interest in Kellan Grady and Justin Powell. Grady comes to UK and looks like a borderline All-American; Powell goes to Tennessee and averages four points per game. Recruiting and coaching

I believe you're missing my point, but so be it.

Please elaborate then.

Because my point is that Calipari used the rules the NCAA allows coaches to use to put together a pretty solid team (that hopefully has great tournament success) a year after many were ready to run him out of the state.

Cal used to only rely on One and Done freshman and has adapted quickly to the new lay of the land in the NCAA. Maybe it was you who missed my point.

Some will say thats just getting lucky in the portal or thank the portal for another win. But utilizing the portal is now a major player in the NCAA and it appears Cal used it wonderfully to create his team this year. Some will credit that, others won't.

Let's not forget, the bringing in of transfers is not a new this year thing for Cal. Last year he brought in Toppin and Sarr. The year before he brought in Sestina. Cal was in front of this trend, just like he was in front of the one and dones.

I never mentioned a word about NCAA rules.  I see nothing negative in my post, no great science in using the portal.  Actually shortens the recruiting process.  All coaches know the fortunes of this, Cal has not gotten every player that he has went after,  The name Kentucky is a plus in recruiting, has been for ages.

I know you didn't. I was elaborating on my point. No point in repeating myself again.

Over the last few years on here we have had some people on here saying Cal can’t coach, he has lost it, they need someone else.

Cal has always been usually ahead of the game in reinventing himself. He also never gets enough credit for his coaching ability. Every year for the most part his teams defense has been really good and one of the better ones in the country. Every year besides really two, he has done a great job getting a bunch of new guys to learn how to play well together. Which like it or not for the Cal can’t coach crowd, is a huge part of coaching. Getting a team to be able to play as a team is a huge part of coaching, which Cal has always been able to do that. A long with getting guys to team defense. The only two years he seemed to fail to really get them to come together was the two years they missed the tournament under him.

We seem to have a top freshman class coming in next year, and honestly most likely will have a decent amount of guys returning. Yet I’m sure are usual people on here will keep complaining, and or failing to give Cal any credit.
