Best MLB's in the state 2006

Featured Replies

I think Fields Davis has to be mentioned in this. He may be small 5'7 190lbs but he can pack a punch, and was an overall solid LB for 3years at Ashland.

I would like to hear some stats from some of these guys too if you please.

If you count assist as tackles I know about 100 kids around the state who would have 150+ tackles.

Chris Lewis - Mercer County 6' 3" 215lbs

140 Tackles this year

409 Tackles for career

Raceland.... J.T. Forrest 6' 225lbs.

Flynn was the best I watched and Blake Johnson would have been the runner-up. Both of them were monsters on the field.

In an article in the KY Post yesterday, Flynn said he is looking at schools such as EKU, Murray, Ashland (OH), and Gtown.

Vince Murray of Ryle has offers from EKU and Murray and is looking into the Naval Academy. I believe all 3 want him to play LB.

. X had a pretty good inside linebacker also. Don't recall his name. Number may have been 47, but I'm not sure.

I think you were speaking of 97 for X, and that would be junior Nick Heuser ( pronounced Hizer) and he had a good season and should lead the defense for the Tigers in 2007. Weitlauf should be one of the best in the state also.

Flynn of Cov Cath my have been to most complete and dominant LB I seen all season. Tackett and Johnson of Johnson Central both were very good and physical and probably was the best LB tandem in the state but were a little behind Flynn in my opinion.

Aaron Root at Williamsburg had another great year. POY at linebaker region 4 district 7, Corbin News Journal Defensive POY. As a jr. he set the school record for tackles with 164 ( 120 solo, 44 assists ), and this year he broke the record again with 174 total tackles (132 solo, 42 assists) 19 tfl, 2 int's, 3 recoveries with one being returned 48 yards for a TD. The kid just plays, pardon the expression, balls to the walls and has a great motor and a nasty attitude. He is 5'8", 190, and is being recruited by all the state NAIA schools, several Ohio schools, and some d2's in Tennessee. We W'burg fans have really enjoyed watching this fine young man the past 4 years and look forward to seeing this little bull on the next level.

Flynn (CovCath) and Gamsky (South Oldham) were head and shoulders above the pack. Tackett and Johnson (both of Johnson Central) were very good as well.

I totally agree, these 2 were amazing and both had motors that just wouldn't quit. I feel that both will make nice players at the next level

Chris would be very deserving of being named the best "MLB", if their was such an award. Kasey is a great, great player and is very deserving of the Class AA P.O.Y award, anytime you can get compliments like that from another big time player, like Kasey, then that speaks volumes. I'll say this, I dont know if Chris was the best MLB in the state this year or not, but I can guarantee there was nobody better!!!

P.S Best of luck to you Mr. Clarke!! You're a great player, an awesome talent.:thumb:

I can't same much for Gamsky because I never got to see him play, but Flynn from Cov. Cath. was without a doubt the best we played against and I would have to put Tackett and Johnson of JC in there as well. Tackett's motor never stopped, most aggressive I've ever witnessed.
