What happened at Perry County Central/Owsley County Girls Game?

On evidence, there has to be evidence of the assault on the victim.  Does anyone know anything about that?

Isn't assault 4th the lowest degree? Could it be claimed by a victim if he just pushed or shoved them out of the way, without physically hitting or punching them?

I am long in the tooth on law but for Assault 4th the victim has to be injured.  What you are describing sounds more like:

525.070 Harassment.
(1) A person is guilty of harassment when, with intent to intimidate, harass, annoy, or
alarm another person, he or she:
(a) Strikes, shoves, kicks, or otherwise subjects him to physical contact;

When you put the two incidents together Sheriff Lynch sounds like he is out of control.

I have no better viewpoint than anyone else regarding that video, but the way he is pushed out of the scrum by that gentlemen in a red shirt does NOT lead me to believe he was in that pile in a peace-keeping role.  I've broken up a few on-court disagreements in my day, and never did another adult feel a need to push me out of the pile forcibly as it was clear what my intentions were and I was, at least to some degree, accomplishing them.

Just my two cents.  I'm also a girl-dad, and if someone swings and connects with my little girl, I'm going to get agitated as well and right now.

He was involved in another incident in 2019.

In 2019 he went into the stands and confronted fan(s) allegedly yelling obscenities:

He was only doing his job in the incident you mention here. It was at the district tournament and the girls team played first game. The incident occurred during the boys game when some fans got behind the Owsley bench and touched some of the players and were saying obscene remarks. And others were shouting from the stands and growing plastic water bottles. There had been some back and forth between the bench and the fans sitting behind it during the game. I don’t know what happened but the refs stopped the game. Brent had just been sworn in as county sheriff two months earlier. However, he wasn’t in uniform at the time because he had just been sitting on the girls bench for that game that was just completed. All he did in this case was come into the stands ,as sheriff of the county, to try to get everything settled down. However, some of the Estill fans did not know he was the acting sheriff because he  was wearing  his coaches shirt. They took exception to his presence. He identified himself as sheriff and had his badge but it didn’t help. He was cussed at, threatened, etc. I believe one or two fans were removed from the gym and things finally settled down.
But Brent in no way caused that situation to occur. He was only acting as county sheriff and trying to calm things and resume the game.
The picture doesn’t always explain the entire story. If one just went by a photo it appears he was in the stands causing a ruckus and out of place. But he wasn’t. He was there as an officer trying to ease the situation. They have shown this picture along with the Perry fight video on the Lexington and Hazard news stations to try to make it appear that he has a record of being out of control at ball games, which is not the case. He was acting in good faith in this pic as sheriff trying to calm a situation and resume game activities.

The way he charged the situation definitely looked overly aggressive to me but this is a very serious allegation and I wish KSP would outline the facts of the case (probable cause to charge the Sheriff) for the good of everyone.  Also, it would be very simple to blur the victims face out while giving everyone a picture of the injury that led to the charge.

This probably isn't fair but of all the law enforcement agencies I have worked with I am the most suspicious of KSP and we referred to them as "Gray Gods" for many reasons, none of which were a compliment.

Yeah, I'm in agreement with both of these points. Dude came in HOT and the other adults reacting the way they did makes me suspicious to his motives/actions.

I think he was just surprised by the suddenness of the confrontation by the guy in the photo. That’s a freeze frame type moment and one can’t tell for sure but he might have thought a parent was attacking him, which it wasn’t. That is a Perry official just doing his job. That’s Brent’s daughter lying on her back with the police fellow kneeling over her. Everything that occurred at the incident happened in a flash and was over .He wasn’t out there but seconds before he was pushed away and removed.

Also here, the fact that he came in so hot gives the other adults some latitude to be a little more aggressive with him.  That could mean they were just matching force with force or it could mean they saw him actually do what he is accused of.  In other words, he was fuel on the fire and then some of the other adults were fuel on the fire. The question is why did those other adults react the way they did?  I sure would like to hear the witness statements.

All I can say is give me recordings that begin well before the incident occurred,  from a dozen different cameras all with sound and from a dozen different angles.  Also, put microphones on all the participants of the altercation and then just possibly a determination may be made as to what actually happened and who instigated it.

If I'm not mistaken the Sheriff had two daughters on the court when this all started. A lot of people would charge in over aggressively if their children were involved. I'm not defending him just trying to rationalize why he may have came in so hot, especially if his daughter(s) were on the receiving end from the other team.

I'm not sure what happened other than what the news was saying.

1. If he did go in to protect his daughters for getting hurt then I don't blame him as I'd do the same thing.

2. If he done it out of pure spite (which I don't know if true or not but they say he hit one of the players) then he needs to be fired from both coaching and sheriff.

As for the Estill incident, I wasn't at the game nor watched it. All I seen was a video of him going at it with some fans. He ended up getting into it with one of Estill's coaches if I'm not mistaken.

In the district tournament game incident he was not involved with the reasons it started. But after the game was stopped by the referees he went into the stands as the acting sheriff of the county, along with a deputy, to attempt calm the situation but some of the fans did not realize he was a police officer. He had his badge but was not in uniform because he had been on the girls bench as an assistant coach for that game, which was the first contest of the night. I think most of that incident was simply a misunderstanding of his status as county sheriff. Everything was finally gotten under control and the game resumed.
But Brent was not the instigator of that incident in the least. The Lexington TV stations and Hazard’s WYMT showed a still picture of that game with him in the stands in an attempt to make it appear that he has a history or pattern of these type things, which is absolutely not fact.
