In the district tournament game incident he was not involved with the reasons it started. But after the game was stopped by the referees he went into the stands as the acting sheriff of the county, al

What an embarrassment.

I am long in the tooth on law but for Assault 4th the victim has to be injured.  What you are describing sounds more like: 525.070 Harassment. (1) A person is guilty of harassment when, with in

He was trying to break up the fight. He has two daughters who were in the game at the time. He didn’t assault or strike anyone according to others I have spoken with who were close to the scene. And the video doesn’t show anything like that, but it’s difficult to determine much from the video anyway because of the distance the camera was from the fight and the way everyone was packed into that one area, some lying on the floor and some standing. As he got to the area he either tripped or slipped on a wet floor and partially went down. But his intention IMO was to try to stop someone from getting hurt. And he wasn’t the only person that came into the floor that wasn’t an official or Perry staff. There were others.

Four players off each team are serving two game suspensions. That should have been the extent of the it and move on. I don’t understand how it was determined from that video that a warrant should be issued for his arrest. Maybe there’s something I’m not seeing but I don’t see any evidence here.

I don't know what to believe at this point but how could KSP get it this wrong if there was no assault?

I don’t know. I am going on hearsay here but I was told the warrant was sought by a close relative of one of the PCC players, not the school officials. It will probably turn into one of those “he says, she says” type evidence. A player possibly could have been struck by another player, because there were a lot of swings being thrown from both sides, and the player caught sight of the coach out of the side of her vision and thought it was him. Mistakes can be made. I don’t see how a case can be made for assault here. But what is bothersome is if he is determined innocent his name and image has been all over the news channels and social media as if he is guilty anyway.
I believe he turned himself in either yesterday or today. I assume he has an attorney. I’m not sure why he did it that way but I suppose he had his reasons.

I understand he was there as a Coach but when he went running towards the scene, and certainly when he went down, he wasn't a Coach any longer, he was the Sheriff of Owsley County.  When you add that to multiple people potentially have their hands on him, his fight or flight response is going to kick in.  If someone got hurt during the response, that is one thing, now if the Sheriff squared up against a girl and hit her, that is a much bigger thing.

Considering how fast the warrant was issued one would think this is an open and shut case where virtually no further investigation was needed.

I am anxious to learn more.

I agree. I want to hear the evidence that was deemed enough to issue a warrant. I believe when it comes down to it the evidence is going to be different accounts of people saying they saw this or that and other accounts saying what the accusers said isn’t true or accurate. Without accurate video evidence I don’t think there is a case here. I’ve known Brent a long time and I can’t see him ever harming a student/athlete like the warrant says. I believe his intentions were to stop the fight and keep anyone from getting hurt. He had two daughters in the middle of all of it. He did t want anyone to get hurt. That’s my personal opinion. Plus, I spoke with others that were right at the scene of the action and they said he most definitely didn’t strike anyone. He did, though, slip on the floor, I suppose due to perspiration on it, and stumbled forward. He was grabbed as soon as he was at the scene by Perry officials and pushed to the end zone, and escorted out of the gym.

On evidence, there has to be evidence of the assault on the victim.  Does anyone know anything about that?

Is the warrant and/or citation been made public yet?

And I don't know the answer here, does the Sheriff of Owsley County have any police powers in Perry County?

I don’t know the answer to either of those questions.
I know that if  he is later found innocent of the charges there’s still damage . He has already had his name and image negatively splashed all over the TV local news and social media.

Hopefully his lawyer will give a detailed statement soon.
